for those of you really want a definition of fanum tax, im not aware of the details but i understand the gist. Originally it was a phrase coined around the streamer "fanum" who was known for taking a small part of a friend's meal (like a single fry and chip), and that food tax was dubbed the fanum tax. This term was then later added to the bank of words in which the actual meaning got dissolved as it is strung with other similar words to create nonsense sentences, like "skibidi ohio kai cenat fanum tax rizz"

@@katieburgess6292 the thing about it is that there is no real semantic meaning and its almost phatic in that the string of words only exists for the writer to associate themselves as part of an internet social sphere. you see it happen all across internet culture where people write a slew of nonsense just to show an affiliation. people have just decided this new set of words is brainrotting because they don't know the origin of most of the words

A lot of these like gyatt and rizz, are from dialects of Black American English (otherwise known as Ebonics). Y’all recognize when words come from incels on 4chan but you can’t credit the communities who created a ton of these words? Most of Gen Z slang are just terms that have existed in Black communities and ballroom culture for decades that usually teenage girls from outside the communities start using and then spread it to wider society
