Here’s some context. 1: the instant curry advertised needs to be mixed properly so don’t forget to mix it 2: they’re advertising a heating system where even the doorway would stay warm 3: Hamada is known for his “mean” character but the muscle suit made him nicer 4: the girl says “you don’t have to worry (about paparazzi) anymore. You don’t have to worry about reaching your data limit anymore either” 5: Dragon Quest is NOT Candy Crush 😂😂😂 6: it’s an item that includes red chili that you put in rice to prevent bugs. It’s not edible. 7: it’s an ad for chicken in Family Mart, a convenience store. It’s word play on “Mart”, which sounds like “mah-toe”, and “maccho” (muscular, coming from the Spanish “macho”) , and of course body builders would buy chicken. 8: you’re not you when you’re hungry. The giants from Attack on Titan turn into Dewi Sukarno (former Indonesian First Lady) when they’re hungry.

@yukijiconan99174 жыл бұрын
For those who want explanation of what the advertisement is about and why: 1. It's about instant curry rice and that you have to stir it well so it taste good and is almost like homemade curry. 2. For heating/air-conditioning in your house. So the snowman melts bec of your house heating/air circulation. 3. To help you lift things and such so you don't strain your back. Targeted to older people who still want to be active. 4. SoftBank is a cellphone service and such. The girl and guy are dating but didn't want to be exposed by the paparazzi (this one is difficult to explain srry) 5. Dragon quest anniversary commercial 6. You put it in your rice so it doesn't go bad/moist. People otherwise use chili peppers for that, that's why it's a chili pepper shape. 7. Fried chicken from family mart (convinientstore) 8. Snickers, bec titans are always hungry and angry

@Mike5004 жыл бұрын
The question "Would you buy?" isn't really the best choice, "Are you intrigued?" might've been better. A big part of the commercials is the spoken word. If you don't translate it, it would be like asking "Do you like the message?" after you played them a song in a foreign language. You are trying to rate something as a whole where you couldn't understand a crucial part.
@reina21214 жыл бұрын
The first one was not Ramen :/ It was instant curry rice. I think all of these commercials need some context or at least some english sub titles. I'm Japanese so I get what they're selling but t. Getting people to react without context is meaningless for these things.

I understand Japanese, so I'll give a little explanation to some of the more confusing commercials... 1) those were instant curry and rice. the ad was telling people to mix it well. 2) it was an ad for an air-conditioning system. 4) I believe the guy wasn't being stalked, the guys with the camera are paparazzi and the main dude is a celebrity or a famous actor, etc. 6) the chili thing is used when storing uncooked rice. supposed to keep bugs away.

for a Japanese this is kinda irritating to watch. It doesn't have any sense cause they don't speak the language. At least provide some translation FBE. They are fun commercials but not confusing with the conversation and music included. I like you FBE, but this is ignorance at it's finest.

Problem, In my OPINION: everyone was talking bout how they did not know what they were selling and that the product was trash. It was not a question of wether or not you'd buy the product but if the commercial was well made and intriguing enough to keep watching. Its in Japanese obvi u don't understand what they r saying. I feel like it’s unfair to ask them to review the ad when they didn’t understand the ad at all. Of course they’ll more likely think the ad didn’t do a good job if they dont understand the words or the references made. I think it would be best to at least subtitle the ads or to explain them after and then give them a new rating after the explanation over what they were selling. Otherwise you’re just playing into and perpetuating the common western stereotype that Japan is just some crazy, wacky, nonsensical place.
@Adddmeeeeh4 жыл бұрын
I agree because there was no context and they wouldn’t understand the references to begin with. I could understand what the product was but they all thought the first commercial was for ramen even though there was clearly rice and curry. They should have at least 1 person who’s related in some way to the culture.
@BGNewsReporter4 жыл бұрын
Pretty dumb system. You have to actually let them know what the product is about to compare them to each other. If you understand Japanese it's a fairer comparison but with your way of scoring it, it relies solely on the no information necessary in Japanese. Like the Softbank one, many thought it was for a phone or something, no an actual internet serivice. Or the chicken CM for Family Mart, plays on the Family Mart name by saying "Family Macho", things most probably didn't pick up.
@thelivingliver67154 жыл бұрын
its not about what they’re selling. its about if you’d buy it, just from the footage their showing. japan’s strategy is not to win you over with words, its too keep your eyes on the commercial. most commercials we wanna skip immediately. japan knows how to entertain, even through boring things like commercials. sure this video wasnt through all the way, but arent most of the videos in this channel? they havin fun, they like the commercial, and just for that, they’d buy it without fully knowing what it is or how much it costs. thats the beauty of japan commercials AND this channel
@BGNewsReporter4 жыл бұрын
@@thelivingliver6715 I know it's just in fun, but having a "scoring" is pointless. Why not just ask would you buy it, yay or nay. Especially when half the time it's results like one person "Didn't understand any of it...5", someone else "didn't understand it....0". Pointless lol!

The first one was NOT even noodles/ramen. It was カレーメシwhich literally means curry rice, which is why when they stir it you can see white rice-like things instead of noodles. The chilli thingy I think was to be put in the rice you haven't cooked so that insects won't get in. It's interesting to see the points of view of people who don't understand Japanese when they see the nonsensical commercials. I think Japanese companies have to outdo each other in order to stand out and be memorable. But they do have normal commercials, which of course don't get talked about because they don't confuse us.

You should at least explain to them what were the ads saying because watching the pictures alone would not make any sense. Or at least you make them watch the same ads twice, first on its own then later with subs and see how they would change their minds when they get better picture of what really were going on. Example the Santa Clause one that she wraps up “You shouldn’t have to be worried of being seen with me, like you shouldn’t have to be worried of exceeding your mobile data limit.” which make much better sense.

Not that these comercials are normal or anything. But they make way more sense when you can understand the Japanese.

You should have at least indicated the actual product to the reactors just so they can have a better evaluation of the ad. It just seemed like they're throwing random ratings from start to finish

Its really funny being a fan of Gaki then seeing randomly Hamada in a commercial.

That second ad is actually an ad for air conditioners lol.

So this proves that if you can't follow the ad, cuz you can't read Japanese, you'll think it's bad? What's the point of this?

maybe give them some context next time after they've rated an ad, and then ask them to rate again with the context

Ikr these ppl aren't able to discuss about the creativity put into the ads other than "wierd" and "I don't know wtf is going on". Give. Them. The. Context!!

I think in alot of these you need to understand what they're saying for the commercials to make sense. I understand Japanese and while the visuals are wacky, the narration and words are clever puns and allusions that do call attention to the product at the end. The whole point of these is to keep your attention in the beginning with the strange and creative imagery.

You should have explained to them what they were watching. Unless you know japanese, you have no idea what is going on.

I think some of the reactors here haven't seen a single Japanese commercials They're like "I'm gonna give it a 2 because it was all over the place" I mean what do you expect from Japanese commercials, but man I just love Japanese commercials
@ichiroutakashima45034 жыл бұрын
It is not that they haven't seen a single commercial from our media. It's more of they don't know the language and culture in the first place. They give ratings without even understanding what the product is in the first place. I'm so mad.
