The person who voice acts the two actually ships them herself (as said in an interview with the cast) and in the finale, we see apple and rainbow talking as if they live together, but, they could solely be two best friends living together, because many friends do live together. Also, in the finale, we see rainbow put her hoof on Apple's head, which, again, could just solely mean they're close friends. Idk I ship them anyways. There isn't enough evidence to assume they're actually dating or married or cannon unlike Pinkie Pie and Cheese Ship, who we see in the finale married with one kid, or Fluttercord, which is cannon but could still not be cannon. The reason THAT ship is quote on quote 'cannon' is because of the episode where Angel and Fluttershy switch bodies and Angel says "I wanna marry Discord" meaning she interprets Fluttershy as wanting to marry Discord or knows for a fact, but that is not yet proven though much evidence is provided of Discord crushing on Fluttershy. Also, in the finale, they are seen together, like co workers, so either they're really good friends, really good friends crushing on each other, OR, dating/married. I ship this too. Congrats if you read this far😅 I know I kinda went away from the main question but oh well lol😂

This is a great way to be open for interpretations and leave it to the viewer to decide. They are well aware that there is a huge fandom debating this and this is a way to please both. Those who ship Fluttercord can see it as a possibility to have an actual outcome like this. Those who do not like the ship can clearly just say that Angel is a little kid (which is obviously true) mocking Fluttershy (like he always does) because that's what kids and teenagers mostly do. They see someone slightly spending time with each other and think it's a high romance.
