I love how detailed your videos are. 👏👏👏 just found a leak under the van in that area so I’m going to jack the van up and check under there. Do you know how often the timing needs to be changed? I bought the van with 125,000 miles on it and I don’t know if it’s ever been changed and the van’s at 156,473 miles. I feel confident in changing the water pump but not the timing. If I need to do the timing, I’m guessing to let the repair shop do both. Any way to check the timing belt/chain?

You may want to replace the plastic crossover with the aluminum replacement while u have the motor mount off. It will crack and leak antifreeze eventually. It’s a common failure thus the aluminum replacement. The aluminum replacement from dorman runs about $50 on rock auto.

As much as is involved in replacing the water pump it's always best to replace the idler pulley, all hoses, the belt tensioner and the belt. If you replace all of these parts, you're better off in the long run! Don't skimp on parts that are hard to get at in the first place. Stick with high quality parts or you may have to do the job again in a year and pay twice.

@Lfg_legacy
@Lfg_legacy Жыл бұрын
That’s an indication of a bad oil cooler. It sits right in the middle of the block under the intake. Water, and oil run through it, and when bad it will build up, and leak down the middle towards the transmission side. You can do it DIY. Not too bad of a job. Hope this helps. -LG

Came across just one issue torquing the motor mount top plate. In parentheses shows 60 NM to ft pounds is 83ft lbs. However 60nm is only 44 ft lbs. Might want to correct that so nobody snaps their bolts. Other than that great video thanks for the help.
@jzabel9

I'll add I had a air lock in the coolant system when finished. wasn't getting heat. all you have to do is drop the top heater core hose going into the cabin. once fluid flows reconnect. I think you added this may need to be done just adding bottom connection doesn't work, air is stuck at top.

Thank you for this. I recently replaced my right engine mount and then saw this video. I am so glad you are right I did not want to have to go back and re-torque it to 83. I went back and checked the service repair manual and it is indeed 44ft pounds. Thank goodness

My van started overheating today. The radiator was bone dry and I found out I have a leak. Both the water pump and a/c looked pretty bad and with a lot of old oil on the A/C. Do you suggest to buy the kit to figure out the leak first before I start replacing anything?
@victorgomez6942
@victorgomez6942 2 жыл бұрын
The leak came from the heater hose Y-connector. Looks like a fairly easy replacement.
@YouWrench
@YouWrench 2 жыл бұрын
Hey there! Yes, the best bet would be to try fixing the leak issue first, then refilling with coolant and testing. Best case scenario it was just the leak and everything still works perfectly! Worst case, other components would need to be replaced too, and if you drain the coolant into a clean container you can reuse it so you won't 'lose' anything as such. Similar happened to me yesterday in sub-zero F weather, I had assumed sticking thermostat from codes "thermostat illogic", and slow warm-up. Waiting for employer to let me have time off to fix. Red lightning bolt symbol popped up on dashboard - I assumed it meant electrical problem so I drove the remaining 2 miles to get home. Apparently it means overheat!

Yeah his torque specs are incorrect for the engine at 28:32. Caused me to shear a motor mount bolt. His conversion shows 83 foot pounds. Newtons to ft pounds would leave a smaller number of foot pounds than newtons. the correct spec is 45 foot pounds. Please edit the specs to correct them so no one else shears theirs.
@YouWrench
@YouWrench 5 ай бұрын
Sorry to hear that. We have actually already added a Correction to this video for precisely what you mentioned. This was done several weeks ago when we first spotted the mistake. It will appear onscreen in the top right hand corner 'Correction' and you can click to review the correction (which is also in the video description). Ideally we would like the details of the correction to appear onscreen rather than just the word 'Correction', but we are unable to control that factor as that is KZbin's process for Corrections currently. This is a current limitation of the KZbin system. We hope that the video proved useful for you (apart from that part!!) 👍
