Honestly, next year's looking pretty meh to me so far. I have a few games I have my eye on (Expedition 33, Phantom Blade 0, City of the Wolves, HxH Nen Impact), but none I can say I'm really excited for this time. Feels like all the big names for 2025 happen to be series I don't care about personally - GTA, Monster Hunter, Ghost, etc. I guess I'm just hoping Nintendo's got something cool for year 1 of the Switch 2. Also, they can take my physical game copies over my cold, closed wallet.

I think the Switch 2 is more of the cancelled Switch Pro than people think. I think Nintendo knows they're in a corner with Mario Kart 8 and Smash, and they're worrying about people not upgrading to the new thing. They made some minor changes to the Pro, figured out they could leave the OLED screen out for an upcharge in a few years, and now have a semi-affordable system that they won't mind sells 50% of what the Switch did. I think what they learned from the Wii to Wii-U disaster was that they need to do a Tick-Tock schedule. The next Tick will be what comes after the Switch 2, and THAT is the one they'll put all the ambition on because by then the OG Switch will be fully outdated and a whole new crop of kids will be ready to start gaming. Furukawa is an accountant(look at how he sticks to new fiscal year on everything), and I don't think he would just write off all the effort and planning they put into the Pro, I think he repackaged it.

There was no pro. Not according to the Nvidia hack. The chip inside which they started working on from get go is way too much of huge leap for a pro device. The chip was far above even the wildest speculation and dreams from a lot Switch Pro theorist (2022). That was also when discussion redirected to a next gen device. They didn’t make changes to a pro device. The new Switch is built on a different chassis. Like it’s physically larger, larger joy cons, larger screen. The game carts will also be different. Different memory, different processor, different sd cards. Everything is different.

More excited for the new Nintendo hardware because its been sorely needed. Playstation hasnt made any jumps that justify buying the next console and when they kept pushing ray tracing...all it does it make games run worse for a marginal increase in detail
