Yes on the original Super Mario Bros me and my siblings called it "milking the duck" and you can do it on 3-1 and 7-1. We discovered it on accident one day because when we were trying to beat 3-1 and unintentionally hit the duck on the way up the stairs and noticed it sat there racking up a couple points. So we intentionally died just to try it again and see what happens. Next thing you know we was getting all those extra lives. Our mom liked playing the game too so when we showed her it was like whoa.

The discussion on He-Man is interesting. They’re talking about the original iteration, but I grew up on the He-Man and The Masters Of The Universe, the 2002 series. That iteration took itself quite a bit more serious, I would compare it more to X-Men or Gargoyles in terms of its tone. It still had those comic booky, corny elements sort of, hard to avoid given the gimmicks of some of the characters but those elements were fairly reigned in. There was more emotional weight. I think that’s more what I was hoping for with the new series and I kind of got it, but it was very clear from jump that this series was way more influenced by the original and picked up where the original left off. I appreciate how Kevin’s series is animated and voice acted though, far superior to the weird 3D one that also exists right now at the exact same time, for some reason. Boy, I hate 3D cgi bullshit and Netflix seems to love it.
