I think it's that 16th note bass rhythm that is very prominent in lots of Ys songs, especially in Ryo Yonemitsu arrangements ( Adol's Theme, Companile Of Lane, also songs from Ys III like Sealed Time ).

@@Jexton Come to think of it: The Clock Tower is basically the Subterranean Canal of Ys III (a semi-dungeon set directly in junction with the actual penultimate one (Valenstein Castle for one and Solomon Temple for the other).
