update! i think i may have found the origin of the patch. it sounds a lot like the KORG 01r/w's "A38 Raw Deal" brass patch however seeing as the synth was released in the same year as this port it might be an older synth ryo yonemitsu had (maybe a similar patch on the korg m1?) either way its super close sounding and definitely scratched my itch for this sound :)

Yonemitsu very likely used the D-50 in this OST. There is certainly some Korg M1 in there as well ( that classic choir sound ). He also used the D-50 in Ys Book 1 & 2! I immediately recognized the Shakuhachi patch in Ice Ridge Of Noltia. Korg 01/W rocks extra hard as an early 90s rompler synth. It's all over Castlevania Rondo Of Blood. Good stuff!
