I played this game at 38 years old, and this track made me feel like a kid watching the intro of a weekend anime
@Eremes_Zorn4 ай бұрын
Played it at 35, immediately after running through the entire goddamn Trails series last year. I have only ever had a tangential relationship to anime before my Trails experience, and then I found myself subscribing to Crunchyroll and watching a bunch of different shit this year. Fuck is wrong with me. Anyway, looking forward to Daybreak 2 whenever that gets localized, and Ys X: Nordics this fall.

I'm not sure why the Ys series seems to live in the shadow of other JRPG giants, but I hope that changes. This series deserves a lot of love. When it comes to JRPGs it seems like most of the love goes to the Final Fantasy or Persona series, which I can understand. They are fantastic games and I’m not undermining them. I just think it’s a shame that games like Ys VIII get overlooked when the quality meets that of other much more popular JRPGs. This game (and series) is amazing and every JRPG fan owes it to themselves to experience it. Please play it

I think it boils down to the comparatively lower production values and Falcom's focus on the Japanese PC market, though they began trying to expand their reach in the past decade. I absolutely love this series, but it is something of a hidden gem. It certainly deserves way more recognition.

Around the start of this game I was feeling burned from the new direction the Zelda series was taking. I felt the need for another game to say 'hey, let me take you on a journey' instead of the open world approach of ' hey, go do something!'. It was when this track played that the game was telling me. ' Hey, I got you. You've had a great run with Zelda but don't be bitter at its new direction. Take my hand because I'm about to take you on an incredible journey.' And that's how Ys became my new favorite series. Thank you Falcom!

It all started back in 1987..... the original BGM was composed by a female employee at Nihon Falcom (she is now an executive at Falcom). Now the newest of the series is IX, Ys Monstrum NOX (kinda strange title), but I myself liked the VIII, which is this. The original concept was based on a myth in France.

This one really brings in Ys VIII with a bang, getting you psyched to go adventuring & mow down any monsters in the way. I played a port if the original back on the Sega Master System, but the sequels were released exclusively to so many different consoles I never got a chance to play them, until this one. The story and emotion within it put this game at the very top of my favourites.

This was my first Ys experience; later on I played through Origins, and I have Ys IX and Memories of Celceta to play through. But the story of this game and the music threading that story was an incredible experience. I loved the Dana / Adol relationship.

I give this game a 10/10 after beating it and buying it on the Vita and the Switch! Love the soundtrack and the gameplay is rock solid. This song alone is worth the price of the game alone!

When I started this game the exuberance of the music kind of caught me off guard compared to what had featured before but seconds in and I was smiling ear to ear, head banging & making up lyrics! Fuckin awesome!!

Umair Ahmad I was putting it with the best Falcom title I’ve played but then I finished trails of cold steel 2 and it’s low key isn’t close, and I loved Ys VIII.

Had this game on the switch for two years. Bought it on a sale...Just started playing it for the first time last night and I'm shook. The music slaps and I'm enjoying it a lot. idk why it took me so long to begin lol
