@@65_soon 220ps Passat with full load I can clearly feel the car slower compare to single person ride. Same goes to every car, full load is clearly feel less power. If you hold this concept the best suit to you is 2 seater car where the power not much affected even if you taking 1 passenger. Ativa is 1.0T and pls don't expect the power delivery like 1.5T or 2.0T.

Among all the car media, you are the right 1 who tested it. Impressive, at minutes 10:20, it is 150km/h, going uphill man, answer a lot of questions by itself... "1.0, can go genting or not?" Most buyers will ask, u get the answer here. Bravo, uncle!

Little engine certainly doesn't like being pushed, I certainly couldn't live with the engine tone for long, however for normal Auntie driving around town it looks a pretty safe bet.

Actually the turbo boost help to gain the maximum torque at lower rpm. So it's not necessary to floor the paddle like NA car. Pretty decent car for city driving.

Ativa comes with: - AEB, FCW - 6 airbags for all variants - Cheaper Maintenace and On the Road Price - Reliable from Aisin - Better Quality - Brand New Technology - Got ACC, BSM, RCTA CITY - No AEB, FCW (except for RS variants) - Only 4 airbags except for 6 airbags for V and RS but too expensive for V and RS variant - Bad quality - Expensive on the road price and maintenance - Unreliable from Earth Dream Gearbox - Boring Technology - Uncle look - LaneWatch but only for V and RS variants while S (low spec) and E (mid spec) variants but LaneWatch not very useful because it uses one side mirror unlike the competitors like Vios, Ativa and Almera

Ativa use akashi kikai dcvt...not like toyota provide by aisin.... Ativa (baby suzuki brezza)use old 2004 3 piston daihatsu..even myvi n vios use newer 2008 dual vvti.honda city use more modern 4 piston ...yg lain ativa win !

Driving my new city could feel jerking because of Earth Dream Gearbox. And can hear loud noise from engine even during driving on the streets and highway.

@@AmirPomen just to let you know, my parents have a cvt transmission car that is 11 years old with half million KM on the mileage. still running fine like new. its a nissan cvt. not sure if you are talking about proton cvt

To be honest i personally knew atleast 2-3 nissan cvt user than habe been changing cvt gearbox/rebuild it minimum 2 times within less than 300k km mileage...thats on nissan alone... For proton and mitsubishi cvt is another story... As well as subaru non turbo model cvt... Especially if driven hard or mildly hard... Jot to jinx it ot whatsoever.. its just in general, cvt is less reliable than normal torque converter auto gearbox...

I think nobody mention about 1.5T... its about 1.0T vs 1.5NA from Perodua... both have almost the same power with Ativa 98bhp @ 140nm torQue while Myvi 1.5NA 103bhp @ 136nm torQue... if I want power, I will get the CX-3 which has a better look compare to X50... Just the brand itself is ahead of X50...

The cvt whining is pretty obvious. But it work efficiently. 1.0T still lighter than 1.5L. So weight reduction helps a lot. And the engine screams reminds me of my 660cc Kancil. Very durable roar. Nice drive Mr Khong.

Test drove this car 2 days ago, really impressed. No doubt with its ability to accelerate with the aid of turbo and d-cvt but its 3 cylinder sounds like a child is sprinting. This panting sound is further reaffirmed in Uncle's video. In my opinion, a naturally aspirated 4-cylinder 1.5L even the new Myvi's engine sounds better when driving and this is the only obvious downside I found in this car. Thanks to this video, I found another minor downside about its 17inches wheel's noise and handling. It is sort of aesthetic than practicality for a car of this size. Nevertheless, I've booked this car. The rest of this car just feels like a Toyota. Hope my comment helps potential buyers.

Never drive so fast until when something unexpected happen along the way or on the road and you could not stop in time to avoid an accident from happening, that's when "fun" turned into a sad and horrifying "tragedy". Even Ativa NVH is more better than New City. Besides, many New City owners also complaining about paint quality came off easily. Especially also heard from New City owners also complaining about Earth Dream Gearbox as I said again.

Good point about the lower idling fuel consumption compared to 1.5NA engines... I own a 2014 vios and if it idles it hurts me when im thinking about fuel consumption 😂

Those video angles are the best among all the Genting runs. Interesting to watch and make us feel like inside the car! My 4th view. Usually I would visit Genting once a fortnight but because of MCO I cannot go up Genting for almost a year now. Fortunately, I have YS Khong to provide us the driving up the mountain experience.

For me, the D-CVT is not that bad for a small car like this. Perodua will target to buyers that are already have a family and someone who needs to find a second car just for fun. Remember, Malaysia is small, dont expect much more than. If you want speed, go buy the X50. Love how uncle drives this little car up Genting and overtaking some famous "King Of Highway" 😁😁

If someone is planning to buy a sport car to go for racing or skills driving, I would suggest to buy normal sedan/hatchback car and get advise from Mr. YS which will be enough for you to upgrade your driving skills. I cannot see any differences between the cars when Mr. YS is driving the cars. It's really about the skills and not the car. Thank you for sharing all amazing driving videos. @@therobbieguy2399 Yeah, I just owned my City just three months ago, but one of the doors which is front was not fixed properly and paint quality could easily peel off. Driving my new city could feel jerking because of Earth Dream Gearbox. And can hear loud noise from engine even during driving on the streets and highway.

Test drove the Ativa. I feel if one keeps in mind it's price range and the safety options it offers, plus you don't push it like a sports car, I think this compact SUV should be a serious consideration. Wonder how the after sales service would be like given the reported 95% local content.

local content means somebody moved their factory to Malaysia. Of course the technology and QC is still with the factory owner.

Uncle Ys has comfirm the facts on me getting the Ativa 1.0T. Even when im currently driving my mom's car the Honda Civic FD1 2007. Which is currently for sale. It has almost 370,000 km on it. Standard. 78% good condition. Asking Rm30k. To make down payment on the Ativa.

Wow, 150 km/h on a hill with a 1.0 SUV! And I didn't see anyone overtaking either :) It's two years since the Ativa was launched so I believe there's enough feedback from the early users for us in 2023 to much better assess it. This video too has helped me arrive at a decision. My wife and I are now 60 and wish for a car with a higher ground clearance. But not too expensive while being peppy enough. Looks like the Ativa is the best choice for us. Will have to adjust a bit from the 2002 Honda Accord we've been using the past years. But after test driving the Ativa, we're looking forward to having it as the main ride soon.

Yes it is a great vehicle, and I am sure you will enjoy it. We alao did a trip to Penang, so do have a look at that video too. As per your description of your needs, I think it will be a good fit.

Sure. You could easily learn to do that safely over and over again in a computer game. Please never do that in real life unless you have gone through lots of serious car race training and aiming to be a professional car racer. I'm sure many professional untrained drivers did try to drive just like uncle Khong and ended up in serious accidents that either got themselves and/or others seriously injured, paralyzed or killed.

Dashatlah 150 km/j naik Genting...Respectlah ni baru expert level. Tercari jugak kalau ada test drive Ativa yg agresif....selalu kereta sama ada berhenti atau bawa santai. Sekali uncle YS tekan rapat..walauweiiii...respect2. I really like the video as it show how much abuse Ativa can take.

The 1000cc engine is struggling , luckily it has turbocharged...... really strained the engine if really push it to the max..... really nice compact SUV...... great drive , Uncle

My Fiesta Ecoboost still running smooth when conquering Kimanis Hill. Ativa with D-CVT seems struggling lots at up Genting. Wont surprise if it feel heavily at Kimanis Hill.

This view of the road from the front seat is much appreciated. All the other reviews only have the camera pointing to the driver, with a bit of the side view. It gets boring fast.

Interesting format Uncle Khong but perhaps a recommendation for the start of videos such as these, consider putting a disclaimer at the start of the video saying people shouldn’t do this. Unlike you, they don’t have the speed, reflexes or experiences that you have. Some kids might think they can also barrel down the Genting stretch in their Ativas. Amazing to watch you drive, nothing short of breathtaking watching a pro work the car.

Will consider that, but most people know it is different. Not everybody who watches Sebastisn Loeb will go out and try to drive like him. Everybody has that sense of self preservation.

Not engine noise, I only hear the infamous CVT whine from the beginning until when he switched to D mode for slower driving, then the whining stops
