Mitsubishi Xpander 2021/ First Impressions, Test Drive / MPV with SUV Feel /YS Khong Driving

The Xpander is the latest entry into the compact MPV / SUV market here to contest in the segment now held by Perodua Aruz, Toyota Rush, Avanza and the Honda BR-Z. It is inspired by the Pajero Sport, built compact, but deliberately built longer, wider amd taller than its main competitors.
Mivec Variable valve technology provides a very flexible engine offering good torque and Mitsubishi decided to put in a 4-speed automatic with well-tuned ratios to provide smooth transmission of power.
Seating capacity is 7, and the well- tuned suspension makes the Xpander very pleasant to drive, and it even has some limited off-road capability with its high ground clearance.
Straight line stability and cornering capabilities are excellent, and good gearing make for smooth driving.

Alhamdulillah..sangat bebaloi.. saya sudah miliki dan dah test perak kelantan. Pemanduan normal dewasa , full tank vs full tank = 14km/L. Sangat selesa.. selalu berenti 2-3 kali.. naik x pender x rasa nak berenti rehat

There's too many xpander reviews I've already watch from Philippines, but I like how this guy test out the potential of the xpander. I'm impressed. Although your Xpander version is better in terms of interior, compared to Philippine specs, I guess the engine and suspension performance are the same. Keep it up! I enjoyed watching your video and removed any hesitation on its power.

The response of this 4AT is quick good, almost same with the Vios 1st & 2nd Gen. I think the gear lock up function is fine tuned well with the engine in most of the speed

U arent that far with that comparison. I test driven it before. It feels the familiarly 1.5l engine plus 4at from Toyota Vios. Aruz & Rush are not though, both were rather heavy & less perky due to rear wheel drive.

I’ve driven both cars in Indo, and ‘d say if the brv has more power thanks to 120ps n’ cvt gearbox, however, xpander has better NVH overall...

Yes, on paper, it also says BR-V has 120 PS, versus the Xpander's 105.

BRV is more stable and more fun. But, the power even though BRV is 120 ps and Xpander 104, Xpander won, because BRV is CVT and Xpander normal AT. Xpander is more spacious and the suspension is softer. Driving alone BRV is better, but if you bring all your family Xpander is better. To me, New Nissan Livina is more good looking than Xpander.

I like both of them. Wjat you eventually buy is your personal choice: depends on what your real needs are. If you need an affordable 7.seater, they noth are. Both are 1.5 liter engines and so I suppose that about wraps up your basic needs. After that it is your preference and perhaps your brand affinity.

The choice of a vehicle really depends on the needs and wants of each individual. I am ok with 2 airbags. Ultimately driving safely is key. This car is priced affordably, so it does not have more airbags. If that is your concern, then you should find one with more airbags.

Why don't you try this car with 7 person sit inside than you will feel the car performance. Did tried it, totally under power especially came to cross junction.

reasonable suggestion, but as a rule, we do not do this, simply because we have no budget to put 7 people into the vehicle. Load any vehicle up with 7 people and of course the performance would be affected. Do bear in mind the target market for this vehicle is for the lower income group - there are large 7-seater MPV's and SUV's around, with bigger engine capacities, but they also cost more, and you will still make the same comment - why don't I put 7 people into it and test the power. Finally, we are a gun channel, sharing whatever experiences we go through. We are not a testing body - we don't give out certificates for vehicles. "Ah Beng" type of salesmen in Mitsubishi showrooms trying to brag about the car having Lancer Evolution suspension and engine technologies. 😂 Anyways, I think the car's gearbox has been tuned to compensate for Xpander's small 1.5L engine. It would have been as lethargic as a Hyundai Matrix 1.6L automatic, but the Xpander somehow managed to avoid being obviously underpowered.

Well, the MIVEC system did originate from the Lancer Evo, and the Evo also had front Macpherson struts so they are not lying. As for the power, it is all about gearing and final drive versus weight versus engine power. The design engineers have done some great work in this department.
