Its critical that car journalists remain independent even though sponsored reviews are their bread and butter. Viewers can smell a biased and overselling review a mile away. Unfortunately "this" has been happening to many recent Proton reviews. Those that owns and drives a Persona and Iriz knows the truth Fortunately YK Khong managed to rise above the rest ... to strike a balance. Good job YS .. you are rare

Well, to put things into perspective I am very happy and satisfied with my 2017 Persona. After 2 years and 40,000km, I have not change a single part under warranty or have any unhappy issues with the service centre. It’s a far cry from my previous horrible Proton ownership and my bet of giving Proton one more chance has been thus far a correct choice. In fact, my Persona ownership is more pleasant than the one I had with conti brand. Maybe I belong the extreme scale with unbelievable good luck whereas the rest of the Iriz and Persona owners having their cars fallen apart , power window failure, warranty being denied and cringe and cry in a dark corner regretting their purchase of a lousy junk piece of shit Proton car (which I totally believe it does happen) and maybe you are one of the unclucky ones, if that’s the case, I am sorry. At less than 60k, I really can’t fault the Persona, it drives better than the regular Japanese bread and better B seg sedans such as the city and vios, handles better and having a more rigid and safer chassis. Whilst the Persona fallen short of refinement and fuel efficiency, the gap of price more than make up for it. That’s my opinion though. Agree that uncle YS is a gem amongst all car reviewers in Malaysia, enjoy every video of his driving skills.

The Persona may have a slight edge on handling, but both are good. Persona body could be stronger so may last longer.

From what I observe, the new Myvi is a big improvement on the old 2013 one. The Protons are built well and are generally heavier.

Seriously, I don't recommend fixing a turbo in a persona when new bcoz it will void your warranties. Might as well buy the Preve turbo.

Yes, there are many other things that need attention if one wants a turbo, but I was just saying, for those who would be wondering if it was possible. Anyway the Preve Turbo could be adapted to fit in here, and since it is not that powerful, should not be too much of a problem. I would seriously look at brake and suspension upgrades if I wanted to do it, and perhaps better wheels and tyres.

Sorry to hear that, but the people you should talk to is the Proton management. We are just a KZbin Channel - we test drive cars; and we have not kena such issues; but that is why they have warranty for new cars. I am sure they can fix it for you. Please go and see the branch manager or service manager of the outlet where you bought your car. What are the symptoms? If cannot detect key, it is usually a sensor or battery or even contact issue in the key or car, should be relatively easy to solve. What other problems do you have with gearbox and other parts? In our test cars we have not encountered such problems; which does not mean the problem won't happen, but perhaps you can tell us what happened to your car, or what you experienced.

Why dont they add the 2 head seats at the back? Does it really cost that much? The back head seats are so uncomfortable for people over 170 if we lean on it as we have to tilt our head all the way up. Speaking from a 2018 persona owner.

The main selling point of the Almera would be it's humongous cabin space. The Persona has a bit more power, and perhaps a bit better handling, but the Almera is geared for fuel economy.

Davd Koay when internal combustion engine was invented more than 100 years ago, it runs on a timing chain. The reason ? Because timing belt wasn’t even created. In fact, all World War 2 vehicles ran on timing chain , because timing belt was not yet even invented. Ford multiple-award-winning Ecoboost engines run on a timing belt, VW and Audi group latest tsi line engines also uses timing belt, does it mean the pinnacle of German and European engine tech is inferior to a 2006 Perodua Myvi ? Timing chain or belt, it has nothing got to do with the technology advancement of an engine. Too many factors come into play, we just can’t equate the technical competency of an engine simply based on a timing chain or belt. Many people with half-past-six automotive knowledge tend to have this over-simplified analogy : timing chain = advance , timing belt = outdated. The irony is, these people didn’t know that the timing chain is a true legacy, century old design. Cheers.

If the rear passengers of this car suffer broken necks in an accident they can sue proton or ancap for millions. The reason is they sent the iriz for crash test and extended the 5 star to the persona. But both cars are not exactly the same. One being the iriz has 3 real rear headrest but the persona has 2 fake ones which are actually just soft pillows. Does the persona really qualify as 5 star?
