I remember the last time my sister lend me her iriz from Trg to Pen. Driving iriz at the Jeli-Grik-Kulim road was fun. Sure it was noisy roar and cant keep up with my spouse Passat but the fun I drove it alone was great. Few vios and citys playing cat and mouse and they gave in even before reaching Banding Lake. And the tires were protesting enough during the drive. If Proton create R3 version I’d bought one no question asked.

I did test ride new manual Persona at GH few weeks ago during rainy weekend morning, got two cars overshoot the corner on the steep uphill section at the top both from the another P named manufacturer. Please guys, don't overestimate your skills. Doesn't matter if people says your car could ride well or not, cos it's all up to the one that behind the steering wheel.

The only advantage cvt has so far is smoother operation. No escaping jerkiness when operating the manual gearbox especially when driver has less experience like yours truly

@@ilabilab5776 I never tried manual Wira before but if not mistaken, they uses throttle cable right? So the throttle response on Persona may not feels as sharp if u used to driving car like Wira. The issue I have is when i try to feed the gas while pressing the clutch n dropping gear, tapping the throttle pedal quickly to increase rev will have slight delay before the needle dial up.

Very good education for those who has less experience with their car handling especially when the road is wet. My friend ( girl) she got 2 unit one 1.3 and 1.6 iriz. She told me 1.6 hard cornering more stable and easy to control. For fuel consumption 1.6 better milage.

Since proton body is known hard and heavy. 1.3 probably stresses the engine to work 'harder' 1.6 which has more power enables it to run smoother therefore the fuel consumption sir

Yes, of course. I think they are doing something, starting with the Saga. 5 and 6 speed boxes are nowadays easily available. On the other hand, cost management is another challenge.

I always tell people to buy the most expensive tyres that they can afford. So check the various brands and get the best performance ones. The higher price ones are usually better. You can choose between the better brands, Michelin, Bridgestone, Pirelli, Yokohama, etc.

Near the end, after the guardpost at the bottom, about 400m later. You can see the car, after the spin, on the other side of the road. I have other footage of 3 more cars off the road, but no action shot, only the aftermath. One car spun behind me as I was joining Duke from Duta, but that was behind me. I only say it in my rear mirrors, darting across the road and hitting the armco.

Hi, please note that DSC and TRC are safety features and kick in when you are out of control. DSC will cut engine power and brake to help regain stability and TRC will brake on certain wheels to help keep the vehicle in traction; whether they succeed in preventing an accident or an off road incident depends on each situation. These are not "smart" and proactive systems, but are reactionary in nature.

Mr. Khong if we drive into water patch and feel the car pulling to one side due to aquaplaning, what do we need to do?

Lift off and just wait for the grip to come back. People instinctively brake and turn the steering, both of which are the worst things to do. Finally, if road is wet, drive at a lower speed, and always scan the road for dark patches of water. Water running across the road can float your car too.

Because to purchase a whole CVT gearbox would cost u a bomb. And mostly just back to proton to claim warranty as it seriously cost a bomb. Not heard much cases on the N/A cars. (persona, saga, iriz). But for preve, suprima, exora. The CFE turbo version. Quite a number of cases including my personal 2016 Suprima S Premium. Had to claim whole gearbox from proton at 30k milage at that time. Few problems with the turbo oil cooler hose. Sold my suprima off. Still trusted proton handling and cars. Got myself the 1.6 Iriz now.

My mom have a 2011 saga cvt and after 8 years the gearbox finally says goodbye.. and the reason is we didnt change the gearbox oil for 8 years.. so it is pretty reliable just servis it on time and dont use it aggressively or you will lose a lot of money

I think the Jazz has a bit of advantage because it has a bit more power and of course interior space. The Proton is more affordable, and also handles very well.

The car felt ok. It was a 1.6, not the 1.3.

Actually there is no lag from the CVT.

Actually the CVT has no lag. You just feel that way because it runs at max torque and waits from R the speed to catch up. If you don't like CVT then you can go for the new Saga which has a 4 speed auto.

Why are your brakes locking? Please provide some details as to when it happens, does it happen all the time, what car, what weather conditions, etc.

@@YSKhongDriving My 2011 Proton Saga does not have ABS. It happens during raining condition and wet roads only. Now I'm extra cautious when the road is wet because sometimes even when I do not slam the brakes it reached to the point where it locked and my car would slightly skid. Only had one minor accident due to this so far so my only solution is to drive really slow and keep a big distance with the car in front during rainy days

Hmmm, the only way is to learn how to brake more gently and to modulate the force. Driving slower helps. Glad to hear you survived. We all used to drive cars with no ABS.
