Mitsubishi Triton Athlete Genting Hill Climb - Paddle Shifters make it more fun? / YS Khong Driving

When the current Mitsubishi Triton was premiered a couple of years ago, I was actually quite impressed with the specifications that included some advanced safety features - by now many of the others have caught up, but it is thanks to Mitsubishi for having started the ball rolling in this new safety direction.
Somehow, we never got to test drive this generation of the Triton, until recently when their marketing team sent us an invite to check out the Triton Athlete - however the MCO took over and we had to delay the test drive for about 7 months - some of our viewers had actually asked for this test drive as far back as last year - we have the hill climb video here - please do enjoy the video and let us have your comments below.

Hi Uncle, u should have tried the 4H function during the drive. The triton then becomes like a full time 4WD. Thats the speciality of Mitsubishi 's Super Select 2. And yes, the handling is amazing for a truck. All Tritons year 2016 above comes with Super Select 2 in Australia , Thai , NZ. Over here its only offered in the high premium variant. Sad. And its proven to be durable.

Excellent video Mr Khong. thanks for your great videos and excellent channel!! I drive the 5th Gen L200/Triton for work, and i agree its an amazing Pickup Truck! Handling feels more car like than a truck, and it corners more steadily some of those MPVs such as the Toyota Wish that i also driven before in the past. On flat road, the 2.4L, 5 Speed Auto version that i drove is pretty fast too, achieving a 0-100 time in about 9.2 seconds.

Overall handling seems to be very predictable progressive understeer overall, with the ability to provide predictable oversteer given suitable inputs. Should be a lot of fun to drive.

Engine is noisy when pushed hard. Front double wishbone suspension is great for handling. It didn't seem to bounce al lot. Nice video !

All vehicles will be loud when pushed hard. Show me a car that is quiet when pushed hard. Even the Rolls Royce makes noise. Yes, the double wishbones help, but overall tuning also counts for something.

Was this run done on 2H or 4H mode? The 4th generation Pajero was known to handle better in full time 4WD "4H" mode since it turned to vehicle into a relatively rear biased AWD with a 1:2 F/R torque split.

Both of them are good trucks. The Triton has paddle shifters, while the Navara is very comfortable with coil springs.

None of the trucks use cvt. A truck will always be a truck, so just pick the one you like.

No it does not: the engine sounds a bit rough, but other than that it is okay.

Uncle, I hv been test drive Triton ,my experience was, after doing a cornering, the moment we try to turn back the steering to the straight position, it feel insufficient damping to do it, so it make me a bit uncomfortable to handle the steering. Do uncle feel that?

What do you mean slip in the corner? Front or rear? Maybe you are going in too hot, or maybe no weight transfer? Hard to tell unless you add more descriptions.
