We own a Mazda CX-5 (Diesel) and just bought the new CX-8 (Diesel, 6 seats, Thailand specifications). The CX-8 is more comfortable and sits 6 (Thai) adults without any problem. You feel the additional weight and length compared to the CX-5, but the CX-8 is still very good to drive. I don't think, that a family car needs paddle shifter... ;-)

Mazda cars are different level. I bought my 3rd mazda, a cx8... drives great.. sounds great.. power to weight ratio is beautiful. U don’t really need paddle shifters... you can play with the foot throttle... it’s smart enough to know when to drop the gears and vice versa accordingly to how much u tekan ;) hehehhehee. Can see him enjoying the drive. Nice one boss.

Depends on the car. I wouldn't want a diesel engine on my Golf R, and I wouldn't want a petrol engine in my Hilux. I wouldn't mind the Mazda 6 Touring or 2.2 diesel, but I won't buy a Miata diesel.

The Tiguan is a nice vehicle and costs less, but the CX8 is a 7- seater and much bigger and more powerful. They are in two different segments and there is actually no comparison.
