Thanks for the review Uncle. My wife & I owned one (1 year old & and already clocked 30k km). Fuel economy test average 5.2l/100km driving from Seremban to Penang and back with no fuel top up and max speed 110km/h (managed to achieve range 1,100km per tank from 60 liter tank). Max speed easily 190-200km/h. No reliability issue after 30k km. Best car compared to my other Kia and Toyota...👍

When I look at the speedo it is scary fast driving. I saw the Vento assemble at Pekan in live and I am lucky to able to touch the metal (in pieces before assembly) and the plastic dashboard. I would say it is really SOLID both the metal and plastic that is why it is nearly 1200kg. To critise over this car will be no keyless entry and push start button.

2 years ago which is around June or July 2017 , a friend of mine got his Vento 1.2 TSI for around Rm72,000 . From what i remembered, the original price was around Rm91,000 and that period got a rebate of Rm18,000. My friend then trade in his Saga Blm for Rm12,000 that time and forked out additional Rm6,000 for downpayment. He is paying around Rm700 monthly only as he opted for 7 years loan period.

RPM will not let u pass 6k. if u shifting down at RPM at 5k the gear will not drop. if your RPM reach 6k it will auto shift up to the next gear.

One thing I'm not a fan of with these auto shifters with the +- "manual" modes, they still won't exactly give a full manual control. I know they might want to make it somewhat idiot proof to an extent (So you can't probably downshift to 1st gear in 100km/h or something that you'd end up damaging the drivetrain). But the car will still upshift itself once it gets to redline, I am not exactly feeling that. But damn, this run feels to be pretty fast compared to the other B segmenters. Car seems pretty well composed.

The 1.2 engine shed a bit weight off maybe and thus make it more nimble to 'chuck' . Continental cars score well in chassis toughness. I guess it all relate to their foundation of building good stable cars that can accommodate Autobahn. Nice video.

May I know what is the difference between MPI and TSI engine? Because we only got MPI option.

MPI is a fuel injected engine. The TSi engine is turbocharged, so is more powerful.

You can size up to 17 if you can afford it. Make sure the tyre size is correct. The beetle has 17 inch wheels.

The power would ne very similar. If your FD2 is 2.0 litre, it would be more powerful than the Vento. FD2 handling ahould be better than Vento, unless the shocks are too old, but they can be replaced. I suggest you drive the Vento and check if it suits you.

After I did my first 2 videos, I went to a different place because I thought it might be boring, but then my viewers asked for more Genting hill climb videos - the rest is history I guess. It remains one of the best roads to check out a car's handling, and it is also one of the safest because there is no oncoming traffic. As long as we respect other road users, it is okay.

The 1.6 mpi is a very reliable engine, while this one has a turbo. The main difference is the turbo has more torwue, and that makes it more fun to drive and it goes fast faster.

I owned a polo sedan 1.6, going to 4yrs soon clocked 90k km. The handling for this car is so much better than same segment car, almost on par to C segment car. Maintenance wised higher than city, vios of course, but u got a conti with great handling. Downsized will be less power for 1.6 but yeah, there’s 1.2 tsi now!!

Drastically. Atleast 3 liter+ per 100km. Normally it's about 6.7-8L. Uphill is more than 10L and I am definitely not going as fast as Uncle Ys... 😅

The Golf 6 has a better suspension system, so handles a bit better. Against the Iriz, the Vento has better power because of the higher torque from the turbocharged engine. Handling is close.

This Vento 1.2 Genting climb is actually 10s faster than in the Mazda3 video but the Mazda3 had much more traffic that day. Mazda3 corners faster but I suspect the Vento 1.2 has better acceleration due to lighter weight. As I suspected, the Vento is actually quite bumpy (doesn't mean bad handling) and the noise is quite bad. The engine and drive train are the main point.

It is a fun car and affordable too. It is a different car from the Mazda 3, and there is of course a big price difference. And hahaha, you actually checked the time. I think it is 33 seconds slower than the Type R, lol.

@@YSKhongDriving haha because I'm a fan of both. Currently using Vento 1.6 MPI, which is much slower. :\ Jetta 1.4 TSI should be much closer to the Type R. Too bad they discontinued it here haha.
