I actually like Libre when it came out. It felt chic corporate girl to me. I only smelled the flankers in Sephora, and liked the jntense. I thought it was like Love Don’t Be Shy. Was I wrong? Cheers to black currant lovers!! 🙌🏻

Such an interesting and helpful video! I agree with you on honey notes in perfume -- they can cause headaches for me as well. It's just too cloying and rarely done right. I did like the Libre Intense when I first sprayed it, but I didn't like the dry down and also found it wasn't very long-lasting. Such a shame! Loved hearing your thoughts on this one! Looking forward to your next video! 😘 😘

Interesting thoughts! Huub and I both watched/listened to this video. Based on your review, I think I’ll pass on this one. They really hyped it up prior to release. Thank you for the perfume samples 🥰 Can’t wait to dive into them!

I really don’t get why they’re trying to market it as a feminine fragrance for women! I just downloaded chat GPT to prove this point. I personally LOVE the fragrance because it mixes masculine and feminine traits. So I asked chat GPT: “Write me two extensive lists; one for ingredients traditionally found in women’s parfume and one for ingredients traditionally found in men’s Parfums.” then I showed it the top, mid and base notes of the parfume and asked which of these are traditionally masculine or feminine and it literally decided the 12 descriptive sentences in to two lists of 6 per gender. I just don’t get it! I personally love the sent of Libré but it’s gender specific advertisement gives me the ick.

I think it's because YSL as a house is known to subvert gender norms by taking styles/clothes that are typical for men's wear, combine them with feminine elements to make them androgynous and market it for women. (Look up Le Smoking if you want a good example). My guess is that they're trying to follow that tradition. But yeah, I'm also disappointed that they've marketed Libre as a women's fragrance. We're in the 21st century, we've made so many strides in the gender department that going that route feels tame, kind of dated and not nearly as revolutionary as Le Smoking was 60 years ago. Androgyny is still controversial, but the kind of androgyny that is pushed by the Libre marketing is not challenging anything. The true YSL move would have been to market this as genderless, but I guess that they didn't want to rock the boat and lose too much money. Niche houses do it all the time but unisex scents are still uncharted territory for designers and it would have intimidated a large chunk of their consumer base. Androgyny can be scary to many women. If that androgyny is marketed to women specifically it makes many of us feel "safer" experimenting with masculine perfume notes (because a lot of us are afraid of straying too far from femininity). Many women wearing Libre now would probably never have tried it if it was marketed as unisex. IDK if that makes sense. But Libre is definitely unisex in my mind. My bf steals my bottle sometimes and it smells fantastic on both of us lol.

The libre did not sit well with my skin at all ! The intense was nice but there was something that I did not like ! Definitely don’t get what everyone smells lol .
