Great Question... See Verse 7:129: Moses is talking, but uses "Your lord" instead of "our lord." This "splitting" is a part of the locution of the Israelite community of which Moses was part. ANd this "splitting" is common throughout the Quran. Regards

"Their" would be the parents just bc they are the ones who will get another child. They, all 3 in the group (if that's the meaning of "we") could desire that Allah gives the couple ("them") another child. Problem is I don't know Arabic grammar but it still seems to make logical sense. Maybe the Arabic needs more of an indepth study.

The verse did not said how He ki lled the boy?? 18;74/80 So the boy died because of his just presence...... And use of plural form as فَخَشِينَا and فَأَرَدْنَا Means along with Khidr there was an invisible entity with him. وَأَمَّا الْغُلَامُ فَكَانَ أَبَوَاهُ مُؤْمِنَيْنِ فَخَشِينَا أَن يُرْهِقَهُمَا طُغْيَانًا وَكُفْرًا ﴿٨٠﴾ And the Gulam His parents are Momins thus we were afraid (Khidr and Angle) disgrace his parents and became rebel and disbeliever 17;80 It means he did not stran gled or shot or Stab bed the boy, but he has angle force with him that does taking of soul as Allah SWT regularly collect the souls of Humans.. And the boy which was not of Paradise became boy of paradise by their action.. فَأَرَدْنَا أَن يُبْدِلَهُمَا رَبُّهُمَا خَيْرًا مِّنْهُ زَكَاةً وَأَقْرَبَ رُحْمًا ﴿٨١﴾ Thus we (khidr and Angle) decided their lord replace him by one who is better than him and eligible for mercy. 18;81 The moral of the story is that if our children died in childhood that is better for them and for us as Allah Knows the best

I always kind of wondered if the son was maybe still pre puberty, so in this case, Allah wanted to spare the parents of the pain of his future rebellion knowing that he would burn in hell. So I always kind of thought the son being killed was a kind of bittersweet type of mercy for his own benefit in the future, as some parents on yawm al Qiyamah will most likely wish that their kids had been killed at a young age so they can escape the torment of their rebellion. Idk. Just my 2 cents.

Brother, this story may well have happened after Musa (peace be upon him) had already crossed the red sea with the children of Israel and the Pharaoh (Ramses II) had already been dead. Since these stories had to do with showing knowledge that Musa (peace be upon him) would not be able to cope up with killing an evil young man does not require much knowledge. It could be that Allah gave this man (Al Khidr) some knowledge of the future. Allah knows best.

Could "we" mean khidhr's wish to abide by God's will and not even in speaking, remove or separate himself from God's will as he would ultimately commit this act without question? Seeing as God ordered him to do so. To which he in conversation rationalises by saying "we" meaning God inspired him to do this act but to bring this to fruition his human self would receive the order as a concern or a fear that he needed to act on to obey God. So this does not express that God feared or had concern but that he felt the need/concern/fear as per God's will for him to commit this necessary act.

This explanation raises many questions and increases confusion, if this was the case then why Musa alaihi Salaam complained. All humans are under Sharia law would this be allowed with out a trial. According to other similar stories in Quran this knowledgeable person was not a human he was a angel obedient to Allah. This story is revealed by Allah Almighty in His last testament to demonstrate how he runs the affairs of the world. The lesson and the guidance for us is if something tragic happens there is something good and better for us hidden init that we cannot perceive and prevents greater loss. That we should be patient and put trust in Allah.

@@MarvelousQuran This explanation is not based on any of the Tafsirs. It is based on Bani Israel and Musa alaihi Salaam stories mentioned many times in Quran. As everybody knows Bani Israel were persecuted by Ale Firoun. Bani Israel complained to Musa alaihi Salaam he advised establish Salat be patient and pray to Allah Almighty. Allah All-Wise assured Musa alaihi Salaam by demonstrating how he runs world's affairs and there is a wisdom and something good behind every unfortunate event. Similar to Hazrat Ibrahim alaihi Salaam in Surah Al-Baqrah were Allah demonstrates how he will bring dead to alive by four different birds. Also in same Surah Hazrat Uzair alaihi Salaam when he passes by a destroyed town. If one keeps whole of Quran specially stories of Bani Israel the purpose behind this story comes clear. Furthermore this angel did not eat or offered food to Musa alaihi Salaam and his companion. All other explanations don't clear all confusions and further raise many questions. Jewish narrations are misleading. Jazakallah khairan.

Hmmm 🤔🤔 I am not convinced actually!! You are basically saying that in the first and third cases (the fishermen and the wall) God gave the 'knowledgeable man' some kind of knowledge, But in the second case he suddenly acted by himself!? And this particular case includes a murder of a young man!! And even if the young man was bad, does that considered a justification for killing him? And wasn't it better to try to convince him to right path instead of taking his life? And to prove your point you assumed that the man somehow knew the parents of the victim!! and lastly, how about "and I didn't do this upon my command" which refers to what happened in the three cases of course? Who's command is that?

Narrated Ubai bin Ka`b: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Once the Prophet (ﷺ) Moses stood up and addressed Bani Israel. He was asked, "Who is the most learned man amongst the people. He said, "I am the most learned." Allah admonished Moses as he did not attribute absolute knowledge to Him (Allah). So Allah inspired to him "At the junction of the two seas there is a slave amongst my slaves who is more learned than you." Moses said, "O my Lord! How can I meet him?" Allah said: Take a fish in a large basket (and proceed) and you will find him at the place where you will lose the fish. So Moses set out along with his (servant) boy, Yusha` bin Noon and carried a fish in a large basket till they reached a rock, where they laid their heads (i.e. lay down) and slept. The fish came out of the basket and it took its way into the sea as in a tunnel. So it was an amazing thing for both Moses and his (servant) boy. They proceeded for the rest of that night and the following day. When the day broke, Moses said to his (servant) boy: "Bring us our early meal. No doubt, we have suffered much fatigue in this journey." Moses did not get tired till he passed the place about which he was told. There the (servant) boy told Moses, "Do you remember when we betook ourselves to the rock, I indeed forgot the fish." Moses remarked, "That is what we have been seeking. So they went back retracing their footsteps, till they reached the rock. There they saw a man covered with a garment (or covering himself with his own garment). Moses greeted him. Al-Khadir replied saying, "How do people greet each other in your land?" Moses said, "I am Moses." He asked, "The Moses of Bani Israel?" Moses replied in the affirmative and added, "May I follow you so that you teach me of that knowledge which you have been taught." Al-Khadir replied, "Verily! You will not be able to remain patient with me, O Moses! I have some of the knowledge of Allah which He has taught me and which you do not know, while you have some knowledge which Allah has taught you which I do not know." Moses said, "Allah willing, you will find me patient and I will disobey no order of yours. So both of them set out walking along the seashore, as they did not have a boat. In the meantime a boat passed by them and they requested the crew of the boat to take them on board. The crew recognized Al-Khadir and took them on board without fare. Then a sparrow came and stood on the edge of the boat and dipped its beak once or twice in the sea. Al-Khadir said: "O Moses! My knowledge and your knowledge have not decreased Allah's knowledge except as much as this sparrow has decreased the water of the sea with its beak." Al- Khadir went to one of the planks of the boat and plucked it out. Moses said, "These people gave us a free lift but you have broken their boat and scuttled it so as to drown its people." Al-Khadir replied, "Didn't I tell you that you will not be able to remain patient with me." Moses said, "Call me not to account for what I forgot." The first (excuse) of Moses was that he had forgotten. Then they proceeded further and found a boy playing with other boys. Al-Khadir took hold of the boy's head from the top and plucked it out with his hands (i.e. killed him). Moses said, "Have you killed an innocent soul who has killed none." Al-Khadir replied, "Did I not tell you that you cannot remain patient with me?" Then they both proceeded till when they came to the people of a town, they asked them for food, but they refused to entertain them. Then they found there a wall on the point of collapsing. Al-Khadir repaired it with his own hands. Moses said, "If you had wished, surely you could have taken wages for it." Al-Khadir replied, "This is the parting between you and me." The Prophet added, "May Allah be Merciful to Moses! Would that he could have been more patient to learn more about his story with Al-Khadir."

Another point. Allah said, and we have sent to you (Mohamed) to the thikr (koran) so that you may explain to people what has been sent down to them and so they may think. Koran 16:44 The prophet discharged the trust and explained the Koran to his companions. And they discharged the trust and transmitted what they learned to the ppl. And those righteous ppl afterwards did the same

If we means parents and 'the knowledge man' Then why does it say 'And we desired that their lord give them(parents) instead of him(young man) one who us better in purity, and nearer in mercy.' I am a bit confused why it says 'their lord', shouldn't it be 'our lord.' Since both the parents and 'The knowledge man' are believers.
@mfayeeg3 жыл бұрын
@@faizannadir1623 I thought the same but my gut feeling says that why the "knowledgeable person" said "their" lord instead of "our" lord is because he was speaking to Musa PBUH at which time he knew Musa yet to attain the prophethood or yet to believe in the same lord that he was referring to hence he excluded "Musa" in the speech.

The problem is, if we interpret that "we" in the verse is "Al-Khdir" and the parents, it simply contradicts with the next verse which says "and I did not do this upon my own command". I still believe that Allah told "Al-Khidr" to kill that young man to teach Musa a.s about Ba'da.

I have a question, why do we have to take the meaning of the word killed literally...what if the word killed means to "kill" as in to get rid of the rebellious behavior and the disbelieving tendency and the young man would stop being rebellious and would be a believer again hence be like a "new transformed son" to the parents.

Insha Allahh we will have a special segment in the future for the full story of Mussa, including this story in Surah Al-Kahf. There are many other concepts that we need to explore before we can present this story I hope you remain patient because we are revealing the concepts in a sequence to build on such concepts, one at a time. With a lot of gymnastics and sweating, you jumped over "their" and "them" in the sentences to deduce what you have assumed at the outset.

Plz check the comments. The answer is provided in detail. Regarding the gymnastics, I hope that you focus on the evidence... In any case check out Verse 7:129... If you know any Arabic, and if you claim to follow the manner of our beloved Prophet (PBUH), I expect an apology. May Allahh forgive you Regards

The conversation is taking place between the person (I'll call him Khidhr although I know he is not named) and Moses(AS) Khidher is telling Moses(AS) that we desired (i.e Khidher and the man's parents) that their Lord replaces for those two (here plural term used for two is Yabdilahumah) better in purity and nearer in Mercy. Using their Lord is not problematic.

@ the legend We used the name "the knowledgeable man". We did not reject it. We also explained that "I did not do it of my own command" applies only to the last incident... ANd by the way: It is not a wall. We never said it was a wall... Jidaar indicates something else as we will see in a future segment. Thank you

I said to Ibn `Abbas, "Nauf Al-Bikali claims that Moses, the companion of Al-Khadir was not the Moses of the children of Israel" Ibn `Abbas said, "The enemy of Allah (Nauf) told a lie." The name of Khidr appeared in Bukhari in Book of Tafsir.

Salamun Alaikum. I have always loved the story about Moses and the MAN WITH NO NAME. The fishermen must have been upset when they could not go out to catch fish but what the fishermen did not know was that the BAD thing that happened was actually a GOOD thing as their lives were saved. The orphans was arranged by GOD to inherit what their father had hidden in the Wall that was able to fall down. Their father must have asked GOD to safeguard his gift to his children as the people in that town were evil and did not even offer food nor drink to Moses and the MAN WITH NO NAME. Previously I had trouble about the Young Man being killed until YOU DR HANY pointed out that "WE" was the parents of the youth and the MAN WITH NO NAME. I have previously thought that "WE" was GOD and the MAN WITH NO NAME. Thank you very much. Yes indeed. There are many cases where the parents sometimes wish that their child was never born or how some parents wished that their child die... Example where the child grows up to be a gambler and borrows money from loan sharks and the parents time and again have to bail their child out of these type of problems. Excellent Video. May the Good Lord look after you and may you have long life Sir. And thank you once again for such an enlightening video on the MAN WITH NO NAME.

Very plausible interpretation. When ever I read or hear these verses on the killing of the innocent boy, it scared the hell out of me. Now I know. The fact that the parents and the man plotted the killing because of his ungodly behaviour make sense.
