Love to see Chicago represented in Afro Futurism. A poor neighborhood on the South side of Chicago is where I was exposed to ideas that took me out of my here and now to think about time and place beyond where we were as kids. My exposure to Afrofuturism started with Parliament Funkadelic and Sun Ra... it gave birth to my imagination and love of Sci Fi.

As a sci go comic book kid from the 70’s it’s about time Africans Start focusing on the future. The tremendous energy of the past, good and bad can be used to build a fantastic future, but we have to create that future intentionally . Very happy😛

If you look at the work of Earth, Wind & Fire, and Parliament/Funkadelik, those were great examples of Afrofuturism. Only difference between the two groups is that Earth, Wind & Fire were dramatical while Parliament/Funkadelik were comical but they both talk about pride, and uplift.

You skipped over an entire generation. Techno (Detroit). Why do people who speak about afrofuturism always ignore techno?

LOVE, such a clear way to explain a concept that is seemingly more complex but in reality it's just a platform to launch our imagination!

Sun Ra's performance art as a being has parallels with Janelle Monaé's alter ego performance art as The Archandroid.

I respect your work in the movement of creativity, I am a working visual artist who understands and practices Afro Futurism. my only deal is my believe is its gotts be stressed as people of color here in America, we are from here, not of African slavery...a perfect example is jazz...you can't find that in Africa, it is Indegenous...we must change the mental slavery of African origins...I stand with your platform but our nation depends on this clarification...peace and love

Ronald Johnson , with all due respect the people of the diaspora are not "from" here (the West), we are products of its'' inhumanity and dysfunction. our future is not finding our place in the West, but working to forge a true society for all people. the principles of the west are fraud upon all of humanity.

Imaginations are being stolen from our children early in their childhoods because of violence and racism. Those children didn’t even have an imagination because they were too focused on not being harmed through violence.
