I'm gonna give you a mad stat. Since promotion/relegation between the 4th tier (the lowest professional division of English football) and the non-league was introduced, starting from the 1986/87 season, there hasn't been a single season where a newly-promoted team in the 4th tier coming from the non-league went straight back down in the first season. The closest case was Macclesfield Town in the 2018/19 season. On the flip side, there have been 8 seasons that saw at least one newly-relegated team from the 3rd tier actually suffered relegation again (down to non-league). The maddest ones are probably Lincoln City in the 1986/87 season and Newport County in the 1987/88 season, considering only the rock bottom team in the division at the time would get relegated. The Lincoln City case was one of the rare occasions that every team in the division averaged more than one point per game. Luton Town's case in the 2008/09 season was the most annoying one because of their 30-point deduction.
