It's fair to say that Manchester City in this UEFA Champions League final got Walsall(ed). What I mean by that is Manchester City lost the game even with 2 men up. It was on the 20th of September, 2008 when Brighton & Hove Albion hosted Walsall in a League One match. Walsall were down to nine men after 33 minutes but not only Brighton did not score, they conceded in the 44th minute and they went on to lose the match 1-0.

The football part of the club officially split in 2009 from its mother club. You can hear it in the name: SSV Ulm 1846 Fußball formed in 2009 after splitting from its mother club SSV Ulm 1846.
