I’m really looking forward to this episode. This brings me back to when YTV actually cared about promoting their content. More carefree times😭

Wow! Do you remember seeing any of the things from the video?
@torontodrag10 ай бұрын
@@nanotr0 not too much, but I vividly remember the hotel this was in because it is the backdrop of all my photos (taken with a point n shoot film camera omg). I'm good friends to this day with the 2 guys at 12:25 (in front of Masquerade Registration) but ironically didn't meet them until later on that year at CN Anime (now known as Fan Expo). 😂 The one in this vid being interviewed about cosplay (Pan-chan) was kinda a micro cosplay celebrity, she was a friend of a friend and I was star struck. The only other thing I remember from this con is going to a panel for Yami No Matsuei. 😂

Wow, that's really amazing. Yes, Pan was a big Canadian internet celebrity at the time, so it was great seeing her in this show.@@torontodrag

I finally got to watch the video, and I must say, times have really changed so much from 2003. I’m glad to see this part of history, as it takes me back to when Anime was STILL a huge deal in Canada, the TV commercials were actually thought-provoking, creative, and engaging, and YTV hosts were a THING. Damn I guess Sugar never actually became a J-rocker. It would would’ve been amazing if they made her sing ngl

Speaking of TV commercials, I wonder if Marlowe Gardiner-Heslin has starred in any commercials from that era. Gage Knox (Max), Daniel DeSanto (Ray) (I'm not certain about this, but I do remember in the comments of an old upload of the "Beyblade: Behind the Revolution" special that mentioned a commercial featuring Daniel being shirtless or in his boxers), and David Reale (Kai) have starred in TV commercials, so I wouldn't be surprised if Marlowe (Tyson) and/or Alex Hood (Kenny) did too.
@Goddess_helena558 ай бұрын
I heard Marlowe was in a Downey commercial back in the day. Gage was in Swedish berries (and Downey too), David was in a Kraft Dinner commercial, and I’m not sure about the other two. I guess I’ll just look up the Wayback Machine archives then lol🤣
@DoraemonFan-ww3jm8 ай бұрын
@@Goddess_helena55 Tyson and Max in Downey commercials? Interesting (I've heard of Gage being in one, but this is the first time you've told me that Marlowe was in one).
@Goddess_helena558 ай бұрын
Yeah, I was surprised when I found that out as well, since Marlowe is mainly known for his theatre plays and cartoon/anime roles.
@Goddess_helena558 ай бұрын
Btw do you know any plays that he and David Reale might’ve been in? I guess the Toronto actors in (mainly Canadian) TV shows dabble in either Theatre or local commercials.

Btw before I forget, does YTV have something against Marlowe Gardiner-Heslin? It seems like anything about him (like talking, for example) gets cut off😭. It’s cool to see everyone from the Beyblade English dub again. I actually didn’t expect them to be on this segment. Thank you again for uploading this important piece of Western Anime history. I bet those kids didn’t realize that they were pioneers of bringing Anime to North American shores. Keep up the good work! 😁👍

I don't know. I think I heard once that he doesn't do as much interviews as his co-stars, unlike Tyson who loves the spotlight and fame. I don't blame him, I'm more of an introverted and quiet person too and if I was in his shoes, I wouldn't want to talk on screen at all.

So glad to see this preserved here, as well as on the Internet Archive! Thank you so much for this. Btw, just out of curiosity, are you planning to upload any of your other recordings to the Archive?

23:23 Seeing Luffy and Sanji plushies here really shows that these cons know some of these anime ahead of time. I also see Hana from Ojamajo Doremi, and at 24:09, that's an Aiko (also from Doremi) cosplayer!

I visited GTA recently after moving to the West … I still had a good time but was also shocked at how much has changed … without getting to into it, it definitely made me realize, the GTA I loved was from back then.

THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please find all of the zones that Carlos and Sugar have done together in the past. You are one of the best KZbinrs ever. How do you find all of this old content? This old content is from my early years of life because I was born Oct 18 2001 and I remember a small percentage of this content because my mom used to watch things that looked interesting on tv and my dad always flipped through channels my entire life.

I also had an older sister who watched sailor moon on Ytv sometimes when I was very young.
