This is a list of cutoffs for these programs. Majority of students entering these programs have much higher averages than the cutoffs.

Yes, if you realize what I said, that's the minimum requirement. However, many of the programs that need supplementary applications would start leaning towards the supplementary applications instead of the minimum mark requirement. That also explains the scenario on the news.

@@MissNillisClassroomaterloo engineering is not 50% marks + 50% supplementary. It’s your top 6 average including prerequisites +/- adjustment factor based on high school + upto 5 marks for AIF + upto 5 marks for interview= final admission score

It is not 50/50. However, if you look at the admission average of Waterloo engineering even without the adjustment factors. If you do a calculation on the margin of deciding factors AIF becomes almost 50%.

Don't get me wrong. I understand where you are coming from. The whole idea of the video is about the misinterpretation of the news whether the % margin of admission is going to make a difference. By the time that you get to the minimum requirement, the difference is no longer emphasize in marks, rather the other factor that the schools introduce.
Supplemental application is an excuse to eliminate the really high talent kids. The video is to look at colour of your skin. The survey asks about family income, parents education, and your country of origin.

U think so? Or have proof?

I agree with you to certain extend. Yes, the supplementary applications do ask about the demographics of the students. That is for universities to identify students who are from marginalized community. Students who are from marginalized community could be very talented but they may experience mitigating factors in their studies. This would help to put them on a level playing field, so that people don't overlook their talents.
How difficult is it to get more than 90% in a Grade 11/12 course in Ontario? I did not go to high school in Canada. But in my school, getting 65/100 was excellent. Most of the students got around 40-50/100. By the way, video responses are very stressful. I stutter when I am nervous.

If you are not apply for those 神科this year, the student are much easier to get offer from University in Ontario as a lot of Indian and Chinese international will not come to canada for study. My son applied several program during end of Oct 2023 and he got all offer since Nov 2023 to Jan 2024.

It is actually quite normal to have students who are not applying for competitive program around 1-3 months timeframe. I wouldn't say it is faster of slower than previous years.

@@MissNillisClassroom I mean easier to get offer , not faster.

@@walnoremac I still don't think it is easier because from what I have observed from like multiple schools, seems like the data still haven't changed. However, maybe we will see when the data actually get released.
