@@kingpin6173 Basically, if you have two effects that happen simultaneously, you choose the chain at which they resolve. This is good, because it can prevent your opponent from stopping certain plays. I'm bad at giving examples (so someone hop in), but lets say you use a rota and your oponent chains Ash, that search is negated. However, lets say you use rota and chain Emergency teleport, your Emergency teleport is negated, but you still search off Rota. Your opponent can only respond to the previous card in the chain, so if you really want an effect to go off, you chain a card to it and your opponent (normally) is unable to respond to it.

@king zaxa Copying strategies found online won't even get you far against people that play a deck of the same level, but actually bothered to become good players. They will see stuff you won't see, and they will have the edge over you. And such matches between decks at a similar level are the norm at any sort of high level environment. So, if we reiterate, my point about netdecking without self involvement not improving you as a player still holds true, and I also just said that you won't actually win at a top level like that either. All in all, the strategy you mentioned can only bring you success against mediocre/bad players, or players with very bad decks. Overall, I think you have a pretty shallow view at the game, and I would encourage you to start looking a bit deeper in order to not only improve, but also enjoy the game more.
@corebren2510

@@starwars1744 "Looking at builds that have seen success" is merely one of the points Cimo makes in this vid. In the rest of the vid, he talks about examining the meta, accurate/smart side deck building, playing against better players to acquire more experience, doing more research overall, and actually reflecting more into your games. Overall, I'd suggest watching the video once again if you didn't pick up on all these.

Netdecking is a double-edged sword since decks on the internet tend to be adapted to tournament meta which may differ from your locals, so you might end up using cards that only work against the top tier decks. For example if in your locals there aren't any combo decks like adamancipator, dinos or eldlich combo it makes no sense to copy lists that you find online. Netdecking is a good tool to start forming the core of your deck but I am tired of people at my locals that just copy a deck online but have no idea of the reason behind different card choices.
@Seth_Hezekiah

Yes, that's the point. Net decking then taking it to locals is the point. You fine tune the deck after figuring out how it works. And locals is a good place to do that.

The problem with yugioh in general is the power scaling of decks, unlimited extenders, lack of support for so many decks, and the prices. We live in era of yugioh were you can cycle through the deck with one or two cards and establish multiple onmi boards with floodgates and a judgment set. Then you can recovery from board wipes half the time. Its literally just the lockout/otk format. Most modern yugioh archetypes have multiple search cards and most old archetypes lack support that would make them consistent/competitive. There is no getting "better" in that aspect. The game itself needs to get a lot and I mean a lot more user friendly. Limit all onmis. Limit all floodgates. Limit all universal extenders like needle, linkross, isolide, etc. I dont mean once they broke the meta either. I mean upon release. Make it to were people have to at play with some level conservation or you get discouraged players. Its that simple.

My friend is the one who has always been more interested in yugioh than me and in the past couple of years we've gotten back into it. He used the OP Salamangreat deck before most of that deck got limited or banned sometime last year... now he uses a Dino True King deck. I really grew to liking the Endymion Pendulum structure deck and the pendulum mechanics. I still like to use Endymion, but it has had a face lift especially since we've started using the dueling book website so we have access to every card we could ever want and my deck isn't being hindered since we didn't have the mythical beasts or any of the REALLY good cards and extra deck cards that can make Endymion decently good. This past month I've gotten back into yugioh since that friend had me watch your Progression series. We are actually going to be doing one of our own and hopefully getting a couple other friends who don't really know yugioh to do it because it's starting from the basic of basics and there won't be as much confusion for them to learn it. But in the past couple weeks I've been fine tuning my Endymion deck to try and out his Dino True King deck. And I've built my deck for going first or second so even if he goes first and uses Lost World to fill my board with tokens, I can link summon those tokens into other things and get a free link 4 on the field. And if I go first, my end board would be perfect if I can get the boss Endymion, Jackal King, Servant, Citadel, Prohibition, Magical Abductor as pendulum, Mythical Institution, and a card in hand so I can use Servant's effect on opponent's turn to discard and give my field spell counters and be able to use Jackal King's effect to stop a monster effect and if needed Endymion's effect to pop a spell or trap. The best thing I just found out about both of those cards, is their once per turn effects are soft, so if I have multiple copies on the field, they can be used twice!

3:31 netdecking promotes laziness and no innovation. Netdecking promotes more netdecking. So everyone ends up doing the same thing. And no innovation. Netdecking promotes pay to win, and the idea of being a pilot of a deck. And not a duelist. Netdeckers don't want to learn the game. They want to win the game. With less skill. That's why they netdeck. And why real players hate netdeckers. Because netdeckers aren't real players. Like people who use steroids claiming they are bodybuilders. Like cheaters who think they are pro players.

... Yu-Gi-Oh is a card game. If there wasn't net decking, people who can go to see tournaments would try to copy the winner anyways. That's why even in GOAT format there was "popular decks". I also think that this kinda kill a little of the diversity but... It would happen with or without it. If Yu-Gi-Oh was a balanced game I would try to agree but It's not. Some deck and archetypes are just objectively better than the others and not everyone is good at building decks. See another person build a deck and understand how to do yourself is WAAAAY easier with netdecking. You basically just want to make people spend their times because others did it too. If a deck (or a couple of decks) is objectively better than the others, people will realize it sooner ir later. Netdecking don't kill diversity, the own game isn't equally good to all archetypes and that by itself kills diversity

2:13 players handicap themselves when they netdeck. It's okay to learn how another persons deck work. But don't copy it. Because you don't realize you are not copying their skills. Also decks that top mostly top because of the meta they was in. Not because the deck is so called good. Sometimes they might have dueled players that didn't know what their deck did. So their opponents misplayed and lost a lot aka element of surprise. Not that the deck was actually good. Another thing they more likely won because of their side deck cards. Not their main deck cards. Facts.

I think It's fine to copy it card by card, at least ar first. Play some matches, understand in a practical in what matters the deck is good and It's problems. If possible, like you said, check the meta that this deck played against. And after all this, you can take this deck and change it to refine to your own playstyle, as well as to your meta. At least I see like that

To netdecking: It feels a bit lazy to do this and I'd rather come up with something by myself. BUT netdecking and having a look at what works best is a huge time saver. Doing everything by myself is actually just a waste of time when I can look up what works, try to understand why it works and move on from there. I'm not saying I just have to netdeck and I'm done. But it is a great starting point from which I can adjust the deck to my own likings and locals.

And will lose against 80% of their match ups if they didn't have side deck cards aka floodgates. These so called pro players aren't pro players they are semi-pro side deckers. LMAO

For the love of god, stop playing rogue or worse decks. Rogue decks work because people aren't going to be siding exclusively for them. If you are a really good player, you can make a less powerful archetype work by knowing what to stop and how to play against meta decks, without them being able to side against you. But if you aren't a good player, you aren't gonna have the matchup knowledge in order to see success with rogue. If you want to become a good player, don't play rogue. You can come back and play rogue WHEN you're a good player, but it's not good for learning.

You know, I get that you're a competitive player and that's fine. You do what you want even if what you want is toxic, no talent garbage. Look, I have no problem if you want to poison your experience with the easiest possible avenue of victory and if you choose to do so, that's your choice I would have never appeared here. With that said... ... how dare you? How could you KNOWINGLY subject new players to the principality that netdecking is acceptable? And beyond that, how can you, in good conscience advocate for it? It's like this: if someone's just starting out and they want to, you know, actually acquire skill at the game, why would you tell them that it's acceptable to use tried and proven success strategies knowing that it would make them dependent on them? I'm aware that this video is meant for the competitive landscape but still, for you to KNOWINGLY state that netdecking is acceptable to grow your skills, for you to say that it's truly ok for someone to STEAL someone's avenue to victory that THEY made, not you and then for you to call it tweaking or enhancing it... that just encourages crutch mentality and those that follow it who would actually make their way using someone else's... Shit man, you and people like you have no respect for people that actually worked their asses off for years to ATTEMPT to better their skills by their own merit. To quote my brother: "If you netdeck, you're copying someone else's deck and it proves that you have no skill. Instead, maybe you should find a type of card that YOU personally like and make a deck that you can TRULY call your own. And you wonder why the players today (if you want to call them that) complain about too many of the same deck running around and you claim you want certain cards that these decks use to be on the banned or limited list. Yet you advocate for the support of these kind of decks. For me personally, I remember back in the day, when you could just slap together a deck and have fun playing this game. But your competitive mindset and only caring about winning is what really made this game toxic in the first place. I still enjoy the game to a point but because of the mindset of people like you, it made me stop playing this game as much as I used to. And do you honestly think that decks that can set up 6 NEGATES FIRST TURN is healthy? I assure you; decks that do THAT are the reason why this game will inevitably die." And based on how the game's been devolving since 2016, I don't think that's too much of stretch. Cimo and those that follow you, go fuck yourself.

@RedKnight17133th 4 жыл бұрын
@@DQMaster777 This just proves my point. The competitive mindset is so ingrained in the culture that you think piggybacking off of others is acceptable. It's so stained your psychology that the first thing you think of when someone who has complaints against the meta mentality is that they're venting because they lost against it. No, I've never gone to locals and no I've never played in any officiated competitive format. I HAVE however seen enough competitive matches and been subjected to the meta enough that it's gotten old. Of the tens of thousands of cards that exist at any one time, how many do you think are actually used when you get down to the competitive scene, a few thousand? A few HUNDRED? What it boils down to is that there are people out there who are sick of seeing the same decks OVER AND OVER AND OVER again. I'm simply one of them. I've played the game for a long time and the thing is, this game used to be about strategy and patience. Now it's about who can set up a lockdown state the fastest. Say what you want, but a game that won't even allow you to fight back if you don't have the right pieces isn't a game. They don't even give an incentive to play the meta. The most you get for playing in tournament's are reward cards or bragging rights. And people who hate the meta wouldn't even bother meta players if they didn't corrupt everywhere in the game save for closed circles within it. It shouldn't be that you have to shut yourself off from the community just to be able to play what you want. In YGO, most of the time, it isn't "the most skilled player wins," it's "the player with the best cards" wins. Oh, and the scooping. Seriously... fucking stop it.

@@RedKnight17133th I've been to a couple competitive events, and lemme tell you that I played what I enjoyed. It was hilarious to beat some guy when Inzektors first came out and Hornet was at 3, so you had this ridiculous amount of card control for that time. Heck even my friend net decked dark worlds, but he had no idea how the cards actually worked he kept trying to special summon them of of Raigeki Break and Lightning Vortex lmao. Not that long ago even I tried my hand again in the newer format, with a Dark Sage deck and just had a ton of fun. The contrast between my attitude and the attitude of the 'elite' meta players was as you already explained a little sad to see. One guys had a ritual herald negate deck that took 10 minutes every turn just burning through cards and their effects. So you know what I did? I flipped up one little card he wasn't even aware of existing and he just looked at me with this blank stare like he didn't know what to do. He later told me that his play set was a little over 300$ and I laughed and told him that all my cards were from pre-links era. (The Dark Magicians were even from Starter Deck Yugi just to see if anyone noticed) Next time I went to that store I played a Cyber Dragon deck, based on a structure deck from the legendary dragons box. That deck was really fun to build and mess around with, but I had to be careful because I only had a limited number of each card. I played against a net deck Burning Abyss player and he joked and said "Guess you play some pretty unique cards, should I be worried about Magic Cylinder?" Well for game one I won by making a decent board and them playing "Three of a Kind" at the perfect moment. (You have to control three monsters with the same name and a lot of the cards in that deck were treated as Cyber Dragon) Game 2: He was doing graveyard combos for days but I stayed strong until he attacked me with decently low life points while I had one face down left. It was Magic Cylinder for game. I'd rather play this style over competitive, and sure some people might look down on me for it, and call me a filthy casual. However, one of my favorite thing to do with my friends is switch decks with them and try to see what they could do then. Now that was a really fun idea, everyone started to think about whether they wanted their deck to win, whether they should put 'bad' cards in on purpose. Then I started to come up with randomly switching the decks in between matches and games, that got people to build them the way they wanted, and try to see what they could do with the other unique decks. At the end of the day you can choose to play the game how you want, and while I would like it if people were to create their decks from the ground up, I do understand the incentive to win during these competitive events. Now Dark Sage attack his life points directly Time Destruction Magic Attack!

Netdecking. So, I feel like sometimes its okay to netdeck, like when you're new to a deck. Or just need fresh ideas. Sometimes is okay. But if that's literally all you do is look up a deck and play it for a good 6-7 years and learn nothing. Ya no, I'm still shaming you for sure 😂 it's more of a personal thing tho. Like an honor thing for me mostly. Not to concerned about others, unless it's literally everyone has the SAME deck, more on the duel links side . But ya net decking is okay just not every single time you make a deck. And if you do I mean, try to spice it up and change it up a bit. Try new things. And worse case scenario you can day you tried and that the original version is just better but you can say you tried! Lol

Back when I tried to play the game like 7 years ago I netdecked and felt a small twinge of shame. Nowadays as I'm getting into it for real I completely forgot netdecking was looked down upon at all, and I do it without skipping a beat. I do think about making changes to the netdecks but I always err on the side that the deck builder knows something I don't about why a particular card is good for the deck (in this learning phase), and I try to figure out issues with my choice. I also make changes based on the actual decks I end up facing, and how the deck felt like to play in a real game.

I'm actually a person who does net deck somewhat. I don't copy the decks verbatem, but instead I look at the deck list, take inspiration, but then substitute certain cards in/out that fit my prefered style of play. I went to ta tournament last year with a shaddoll deck I made with this style and actually played against the person who posted the list i used for inspiration. She(yes she, there are female yugioh players people, not as many as there should be but there are) wasn't even mad, in fact we met for lunch afterwards and went over her deck list vs what i did with it. She actually said i unintentionally made some improvements (i added in set rotation and a Seal of Orichalcos to go with Magical Meltdown as well as Card discard and a couple other backrow traps.)

First off i wouldn't say shaming is a bad thing. And sticking to a deck list that won last tournament I'd say is a bad idea unless that deck unchanged manages to win multiple times in a row its not a good Idea to just copy that deck card for card especially if the deck is super expensive. Cause what happens is a deck that wins one tournament will have player better prepare for that strategy and your gonna set yourself up for failure cause there gonna be ready for that deck and your not gonna know what to do when they hit your combo. Also I'd say what really screws most players is not knowing the card rules as well as the actual rules. Cause if you have novice written on your face an advanced player will also take advantage of that by purposely feeding wrong information. And also watch out for cheating. I've caught so many people i played against actually cheating while trying to move really fast by fetching wrong cards on purpose and not putting them back and then picking the correct card that was suppose to be grabbed. Hell i had players that when i played effects that revealed there hand to see if they had a card i called they showed there hand only for a second and then flipped it back away from me. So not everyone will play by the rules and that's also why a lot of players move really fast so they hope you don't catch there bull shit.
