I remember I how I got Slifer. I was at walmart and my mom said I could get three booster packs and gave me money. I walked over to the card aisle and got the three, then paid for them. I run back to my mother who was shopping still and I began opening them and the last one opened I shuffle through them and I see it Slifer the sky dragon. I screamed so loud that my mother began yelling at me, but I didnt care, I got a Egyptian god card. Those were the days and now im just a welder who wish he could go back to those good days of dueling my friends

Slifer is my fav card and I can’t lie. My first god card was Slifer and I was such a good duelist with Slifer and I swear he is like my main card in my deck. When I was young I remember I dueled my friend with Slifer and I destroyed him and he had LITERAL EXODIA even destroyed my friend who was pro as hell and used the winged dragon of ra and destroyed him even with sphere and immortal phoenix. Bro I think Slifer loves me and wants to help me win at all costs.

@Ocean Sheldon I always loved playing mind games with my opponent. When I had Slifer in my deck, I laid out 3 Jar of Greed traps earlier, then when i summoned Slifer I had 2 cards in hand my opponent being the amateur he was summoned Frost Monarach (2400 ATK) Slifer dropped it to 400 then he activated rising energy (+1500 ATK) and rush recklessly (+700 ATK) and tried to attack Slifer. I triggered my 3 jars, and I gained 3k to Slifer and bam... all that effort wasted. Before the match, I told him I'd used Silfer, so he added extra ATK boosters cards in place of monster clearance (He's like Kaiba. He didn't want to avoid Slifer. He wanted to actually fight and defeat Slifer). He thought my face downs were countermeasures to protect from monster clearance cards, and that's why I didn't activate them.

@@Christopher-tz3mr that’s a pretty skillful play I got to say if I even where to go against that I would easily be defeated cause I’m now trynna practice both gods and sacred beasts and it’s not that hard for the sacred beasts but the gods are on a whole different level for summoning that easily, you would need a really good hand to easily summon them and it would be extremely rare too, but still that’s a really good combo idea.

The connection to Osiris I see for Slifer is that he's not the Osiris dragon, he is the dragon OF Osiris. That being said, Exodia is a stand in for Osiris and is only useful with five cards in your hand. Slifer gets more powerful based on the number of cards in your hand. I believe Slifer is Exodia's pet/companion.

Each God Card also represents a beast of lore. Obelisk: a demon. Slifer: an Eastern style dragon. Ra: a Phoenix. Also each one represents something that the character who wields it. Obelisk represents Seto's power through individual effort. Ra shows sacrifice like what Marik had to sacrifice for his then power. Slifer represents power in unity, which Yugi and Atem thrive on

Obelisk is fairly similar to a few Underworld Gods of Egypt mainly Osiris and Ammit, Osiris is the God of the Dead and looks like a corpse (He also shares a similarity with Exodia) an Ammit a Crocodile headed Goddess who destroys the Souls of the Evil dead after being judged by Annubis and Thoth and Obilisk probably has a bit of Set as well. (The whole fighting a Dark god thing is Set's Ironic Role in Egyptian Myth, as he defends Ra from the Snake God of Chaos, Apophis) Ra is fairly obviously named and based on the Sun God Ra, though Ra doesn't have a Dragon, he does have a Boat and a Snake God Bodyguard called Mehen. Slifir probably has 2 basises being named Osiris (the Mentioned God of the Dead) in Japanese, Mehen, the mentioned Snake God that protects Ra from the Monsters of the Underworld and Nehebkau another benevolent Snake God thats a God of the Underworld.

I appreciate that there is new support for the Egyptian God cards thanks to the Slifer and Obelisk decks. They didn't make a Ra deck, I'm thinking because they probably don't want to just give people a Sphere Mode in a deck because it's so good, but if they don't, then people would riot. I think part of the reason for this was that Slifer was one of Yugi's famous cards, while Obelisk was one of kaiba's famous cards. It's a common repeating theme for a set to feature Yugi and Kaiba going at it yet again as one of the most iconic dueling rivalries in all of Yugioh, so those were the gods that got decks that could be pitted against each other. I do still wish they made a starter deck / structure deck for Ra though. Yeah, there's the Rage of Ra packs, but you have to rely on getting lucky to get the really good Ra cards to make a Ra deck work.

Obelisk can sacrifice two monster to deal 4000 points of damage to everything on the field. This includes monster, life points, etc. He also can sacrifice two monsters during either players battle phase to increase his attack points to infinity. Real anime effects are broke as fuck

I just had a weird idea, that the Aesir could also be counterparts to the Egyptian gods. You have Loki being the Slifer of the group, since they're both the weakest in terms of attack power but make up for it with wicked abilities, Thor and Obelisk being the raw muscle of the group, and finally Odin and Ra being the leaders of the group with the best abilities and highest power.

Fun fact : Exodia in the Yugioh wiki book is considered a God card. Which means their are 5 God cards of the original yugioh series. I do think that Obelisk's Infinite Attack point effect should be added to his card but it can on be used once per duel. As for the others I do think they should all have their anime effects where they are like the anime but not completely broken. So I do the those 3 cards along with The Creator Of Light should be re-released/released like their anime counterparts where they have those effects from the anime but still not too broken where they are banned. Because if they did that they would be limited.

Aroma jar is a good one in defence mode, marshmellon, card advance, level limit area b and mystical space typhoon to destroy it when you wanna attack but if you are sacrificing for the instant win you won't need typhoon

Cyber Dragon, COTH plays, tokens that can be used for tributes, Dynatheriums, Pendulums, 3 link spam without using normal - and even if using normal, just protect your monster -..... so sorry, not objectively to slow in the slighest.

Slider is getting hype due to links only having attack, obelisk would be competitive if he was less restrictive(3 tributes, can only be special summoned for a turn), ra is only a better or you can destroy a monster or two. Sphere mode is great because you can summon it two your opponents field and they cant do much with it. Yes you can summon them but they take a large amount of resources when I could summon bellzeus which is a far better card for the same amount of resources and it will protect its self. In a casual sense yes the gods are okay but competitively they are horrible. To make them viable they would need a deck built around them and then your left with a very breakable win condition

I remember that in my city it was easier to find fake cards so EVERYONE had multiple copies of the egyptian gods. I remember a friend that used to summon the three gods and then used them as a tribute to summon another one of the gods, just out of boredom hahahaha I remember it was before Slifer or Ra were summoned in the show, so we didn't knew their abilities or effects, and the fake cards showed Slifer with 10000/10000 points and Ra with 13000/13000
