To be precise, he didn’t recover his “dueling for fun” until literally 5 min before the show ends during his duel with yugi, even throughout the duel with yugi at the start he was still dueling to survive. Minor detail but important, since the whole reason why he even dueled yugi in the first place was because he wasn’t having fun anymore, adult yugi tells him that before teleporting him.

Yugioh GX is easily my favorite series in yugioh. It's not perfect, but it's best parts easily outshine it's flaws. I like the dub which fits the school nature of the story and the sub especially makes S3 and 4 heartwrenching. The OPs and EDs are among my favorite in the series too. Jaden's story arc is easily the best of the yu protags, and the Heroes are one of my favorite archetypes.

This was a great retrospective. I heard that season 4 was suppose to be longer, but was cut short because they were more interested in making 5D's and they thought that duels on motorcycles would be more popular than GX. It's just such a strange plot near the end, the idea of fusing yourself with the villain, the strangest thing was that I watched it and then played Tales of Graces f which somehow had a similar plot event too. It's such a great adaptation of a card game, you don't see adaptations like this anymore.

Hope this isn't rude, but season 3 is Jaden's final year since there are only three years of school at Duel Academy. Season 3 and 4 break up Jaden's and the classmates of his year up in two parts with season 3 ending 6-7 months before graduation and season 4 starting 6 months before graduation. I could be wrong with the timing and naming though, because I don't know the name of being a 2nd year high school student in Japan, though my guess is a junior maybe. Sorry if this is rude.

Season 2 was so weird in my opinion. why did they have to change the voice actors up? And I think there are duels not worth watching because they dont mean anything. Also why did they do bastion and zane so dirty past season 1 made 0 sense to me. Some things I did like about after season 1 is how Jaden gets new cards added to his deck each season and new students that are in the crew. I think that's all i got so far im mid way in season 3.

I’ve always loved yugioh growing up but in my late teens to early 20’s it got to the point of an on-off thing with playing the game, getting tired of catching up to new cards (I played with a Bubble beatdown deck because heroes were my first love in this game, won a local with Dinos, with photon being my favorite deck of all time), but this and zexal were the two series that keep me coming back to the game hahaha

I started to watch this even though season one is better to me I love 2. The way Jaden doesn't win all duels is amazing. My favorite part is part 2 with aster Phoenix and zayn going dark. Sotorious is my fav duel. The only down side is yubel saga doesn't finish and is only in Japanese

I love how Jaden went from a Duel-loving individual to evil Kamen rider to depressed duelist, back to Duel-loving individual again. Yes. Supreme king is based off of Kamen Rider Black's Creation king. -Both are main protags that are also later antagonists and leader of the enemy organization they were against, except Kotaro Minami(Kamen rider Black) didn't become an enemy in the main show. He only become the final enemy in the re-imagining of the Series. -Both have Psychic abilities.(Manga Supreme King has it, while Creation king demonstrated his powers during introduction) -Both have loyal followers(Jaden with the Duel Spirits and Kotaro with the mutants.) -Both have their own organizations. -Both Uses the Dark as source of power. Also Jaden uses masked heroes which are based on Kamen rider series.

Man, there are some huge holes in this recap. Jaden’s roster of friends and rivals got completely skipped over, ditto for the School Duel storyline, in favor of jumping right to the Shadow Riders stuff, leaving prominent characters reduced to just names not really worth caring about due to lack of context about their relation to Jaden. Speaking of which, Atticus being unmasked has zero weight in the recap since you didn’t give Alexis a quick shout near the beginning or establish that he mysteriously disappeared due to an undisclosed incident at the Abandoned Dorm. The threat of the Sacred Beasts being relegated to being Egyptian Gods lookalikes rather than the fact that they steal the power from Duel Monster cards from across the planet (rendering them blank and inert) by just being unsealed for a few minutes is a huge disservice to the threat they posed. Kagemaru being a borderline vegetable old man who used the Sacred Beasts to restore his youth was absolutely worth a mention. Hassleberry’s introduction getting lumped with Aster’s didn’t flow all that well. Zane being described as the “champion” of Duel Academy seriously undersells the fact that he was the school’s top duelist and best student whom Jaden never beat in a duel. The Neo-Spacian’s ties to Jaden from an art contest hosted by Kaiba Corp. goes unmentioned. The school trip to Domino City, which involved Jaden and Aster fighting Sartorius’ younger sister Sarina (plus details of Aster, Sartorius, and Sarina knowing each other as kids) shortly prior to the Gen Next tournament. The recap made it sound like Zane was at risk of shacking up with the Society of Light (he wasn’t, they only set up shop on Duel Academy) and that Prince Ojin was in cahoots with Sartorius from the jump (he wasn’t, he staked the SORA satellite in a duel against Sartorius and lost then got infected by the Light). The only reason why Sartorius had a shot at being stopped in a duel was because a part of him not possessed by the Light gave the activation keys to Jaden and Aster, so the Light called on Ojin and The D to reclaim them. The Supreme King didn’t just ravage villages, he also amassed an army of evil Duel Monsters and ritualistically killed Duel Monsters in the innocent villages he raided as a grand sacrifice to create the Super Polymerization card, a powerful Fusion-based Spell capable of combining the twelve dueling dimensions to create an almighty god; both Brron and Yubel had grand plans for its power while Jaden/Haou was fairly content to just chill in his castle and only use it as his secret weapon in duels. Seasons 3 and 4 are the same school year; Duel Academy is based on Japanese high school (which only does three years of schooling) and the extradimenaional stuff with Yubel cut into the third year. RIP Trueman, the career choices of Jaden’s friends with the incoming graduation, the assorted shenanigans caused by Darkness having the people of Earth abducted and assimilated, and the histories of both Atticus and Yusuke as hosts for Nightshroud. Yugi didn’t transport Jaden into the past, Kuriboh and Winged Kuriboh guided past Yugi (notably one from after the various filler arcs but before Millennium World, you can see an article about Yugi winning a second Battle City on the streets) and Jaden into a realm that’s disconnected from time for their final duel. … did you say Duel Masters at the end? Anyways, you cut way more than just fat and filler with the recap.

Correction about your darkness saga input. That's not Nightshroud in his final Duel. That's actually Darkness that Jaiden is dueling. In the first few episode Aticus explained that he and his classmate Yusuke who's actually better than Zane explored that abandoned mansion back in season 1 and discovered the power of darkness, however Yusuke used his blood to aquire it's power, as a result he died but before his death, he gave Aticus a mask as a parting gift that turns him into NightShroud.

Gx was my childhood. While the first 2 seasons were mediocre crap, seasons 3 and 4 were breathtaking!! With The jesse yubel jaden love triangle and all the dark epicness

The first 2 seasons are peak yugioh. Season 3 is the studio trying to write serious stuff when they can't write for shit. All the Yubel crap turned out to be an edgy mess and they never learned from it through Vrains. Every time yugioh drifts away from slice of life/tournaments they fail miserably

I loved the 1st season joey character build was great, a guy who knows nothing to almost beat the ra card. How Kiba only dueling for power to become a part of the crew. Yugi is prob the best dullest of all seasons he had tougher duals with seto and Pegasus loss in episode two to match against joey Pegasus rematch then the gods exodia and 5 God dragon. Season 2 was ok sortorious, was my fav in Season 2.

@King Kasper yes I feel even the secondary character had more personality and build how pokura had 2 faces. One was a happy dullest to his other side who wanted all the items for greed and power. Maric had 3 faces the kid who was a tomb keeper then the side that went evil to the final battle where the evil just took over Even the ghost of Kiba who was Kiba old self and stood for power and panic. I feel the other seasons just put ppl together with no story. Cure Cyrus had a story at the very end where he tamed the cyber deck. And Jaden at the end who fused with yubel but you gotta watch it in Japanese. I feel after season 1 the stories were not as strong

I just feel the other seasons had minimal character build. Season 2 was ok, then season 3 behind Jack yusai officer and the director who stole the signs, it's minimal build. Season 4 only had minimal astrol trying to find out who he is and vector who played the deceiving friend Ray who just kept becoming darker and resuracting don thousand who we got a story it's like 4 ppl 5 was alot of randomness. I feel season one all characters had a purpose from.yugi joey Kiba Pegasus pakoroa Rex wevile Raphael etc..

I only watched the original and GX. I didnt care about 5D etc. 18-20 yrs has passed since i first watched the GX. Still remember when we played Yugioh in the back of our school building. Using a tree trunk as our table (carve the lines for card placement) 😂😂. Good ol days.😊

How to watch YGO GX: *Skip the entirety of season 1 except the episodes that features the seven stars(tbh that is also skippable) *Skip season 2 unless you're a Jojo fan then watch the episode with Saiou/Sartorious *Bingewatch season 3 *Skip season 4 except the final 2 episodes. Overall GX really sucks. I can't believe that two seasons were fillers and the real interesting story starts in season 3. Then everything gets shafted in season 4.
