The monster wants revenge, instead of possessing his body, it wants to make jaden feels sad, alone, despair in grief and know how it feels to live lonely life without friends. This is why its first steps of its goal is to snatch jaden's friends from him so that he will be left both without moral support and company, likewise, the way ubel felt when it was expelled into the space. In other words into the darkness. This constantly shows that ubel gains its strength with the darkness.

He’s afraid of the supreme kings power and besides the super polymerisation he was using that was the supreme king himself and believe me he did things you really don’t want to find out. So in order to truly defeat Yubell it’s to go all out so that means he has to make peace with his past.
