Akiza gets her ass beaten so much, after she looses to yusei she hardly ever gets and good duels, alexis was terribly writen is a basic female character with no really specific traits, she also gets her ass beaten a lot (tho i will admit she was better in arc-v). Speaking of arc-v, i guess Yuzu was also good. She beat the main character in the first few episodes and was hella relevant to the plot.

As a result she put up walls to keep people from getting close to her because she felt they would be no different and would just add to the hurt. Yusei however kept persistent, and he eventually showed her the acceptance that she wanted for so long, and throughout the course of the series, so did everyone else, including the signers. THAT'S how Yusei scored a "babe" like Akiza-he treated her like a human being, and accepted her for her.

I love how the audience in dub is like: "this is the best fortune cup ever" while in sub they called Aki a witch and were infinitely more hostile which gave more insight on how isolated Akiza was from the world. Like i feel like the dub Akiza and the Sub Aki are almost two different characters. While in dub Akiza is much more sassy and kinda talkative in sub she sounds very distant and also very emotionally drained. Atleast they did not butcher Akiza as hard as much as they did with dub version of Jaden or Judai and by extension Yubel.
