This card has the following Effect:
Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must be Special Summoned with "Contract with Exodia", and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. Cannot be destroyed by battle or Spell/Trap effect. Once per turn, during your Standby Phase: This card gains 500 ATK. Destroy this card unless all 5 of these cards are in your Graveyard - "Exodia the Forbidden One", "Right Arm of the Forbidden One", "Left Arm of the Forbidden One", "Right Leg of the Forbidden One" and "Left Leg of the Forbidden One".

He can't be destroyed, but having a monster with more attack still makes you lose life points. He can't be targeted by spells, traps or effects, but those that don't target still work.

Anime effect would just say it is immune to everything. So that wouldn’t work.

@@PerfectAzrael Actually, Kaiba did both of those things (he attacked it while it was still weak enough to do so, and Gosoboro lost life points. He also used the trap "Negate Attack" (which doesn't target), and it worked.)

honestly it isn't a weak card its just absurdly hard to summon. It was heavily shafted by not being some kind of extra deck monster or even some sort of ritual monster

Not really, even then it'd just be a worse Legendary Exodia Incarnate, but it certainly would've been a fun non-meta strategy when Necross at the time. Which is so funny, Konami does that shit all the time like Eternal Soul for DM. "Oh no, it revives one specific monster from the graveyard, that's way too overpowered, we need to make it a self-boardwipe for balance!" As if Call of the Haunted hadn't existed for 15 years already...

@@John_1-1_in_JapaneseExcept Eternal Soul literally protected “Dark Magician” from literally everything which is if you know, it is a really really good effect, and also adding thousands of knives or dark magic attack so at that time the board wipe effect is needed, why are you even comparing it with Call of the Haunted

@@John_1-1_in_Japanese Ironically, the self boardwipe wasn't really made to balance the card, but as a reference. In the manga, during the final arc when Atem is recovering his memories, when the stone tablet of a monster is destroyed, the monster itself is also destroyed without the need to face the monster itself. It's why True Light has the same drawback as Eternal Soul, cause during the battle between Atem and a possessed Priest Seto, instead of directly trying to face the Blue-Eyes White Dragon, Atem wanted to destroy the stone tablet of Blue-Eyes, cause Blue-Eyes itself was too strong for Dark Magician to face. But Atem was outplayed, the possessed Priest Seto had the same idea and ordered the Blue-Eyes to attack Dark Magician's tablet, and since Blue-Eyes was stronger and faster, Dark Magician was destroyed. This battle did not happen in the anime, by the way. Yeah, they made that drawback just to remain faithful to the manga, despite them changing a lot of cards from the manga when they got printed in real life.

That moment when Seto Kaiba figured out the weakness of Exodia Necross... Even if it is not destroyed in battle, the player still loses Life Points ❌ Attack it's soul (banishing the 5 parts of Exodia), not it's body (attacking Exodia Necross) ✅

Exodia Norcross maybe powerful but he does have one weakness in order to have him on the field all 5 part of Exodia in to the graveyard if Neither one of them is remove Exodia Norcross will be destroyed

The anime version doesn’t have that weakness. It only loses the effect of that respective piece if they leave the graveyard.

@@cesarmorales9138 It's not a "maybe" in the anime. The anime version just doesn't have this weakness at all. It's fine if you want to educate those who don't know about the real life version but you should frame your initial comment to clarify this. Sometimes cards in the anime can be "updated" to have more matching effects to their OCG/TCG counterparts which is fine. But I recall Exodia Necross never shows up again in the anime so there's never a chance for it to be updated.

Wouldn’t it make more sense for the abilities of the right arm and head to be switched around? All of the limbs would protect Exodia Necros from being destroyed, while the head would keep making it stronger.

Left Leg: Cannot be destroyed by spell cards Right Leg: Unaffected by trap cards Left Arm: Unaffected by monster effects Right Arm: Everytime this monster battles, it gains 1000 ATK points Head: Cannot be destroyed by battle. In other words it is still defeatable by master duel standards xD. - Just pull out a forbidden chalice or droplet on it to negate effects and you're done. Gozaburo only said Necross could never be destroyed by spell cards. - Do an OTK by attacking Exodia with monster with higher ATK points - Dimension wall - Special summon by tribute (Lava Golem, Kaijus or Santa Clawz)

you said you had to negate the effect of the spell it can still be targeted normally say for example you place a kind of negative effect token so it loses attack point. dimension wall means that yep that would work but its basically changing it up since your making your opponent the damage. i was going to say maybe that you cant tribute it as the opponent but i stand corrected the key is to remove the cards from the graveyard or remove the specific piece you need so say you wanted to destroy it by a card a trap card remove the right leg you never want it to be too strong too counter since it gains one thousand attack points with each battle of course in modern yugioh its funny how fast a proper deck can reach 5k attack points lmao.

Just seems inconsistent and perhaps the voice actor was given the wrong information. If exodia necross is unaffected by trap and monster effects, might as well make it unaffected by spell effects too. Not being destroyed by spell cards is fundamentally different than not being affected by them.

When a monster becomes undead, it's a top tier deck. When Exodia does it, no-one bats an eye! The anime lets you fight the actual Exodia by removing all 5 Exodia pieces and reverting him to his original state.
