My tips are these: -Begin the game at a simulator based on the YGOPRO engine, the cards and effects are automatic and so you won't have any problems if you misunderstand the effects when playing against someone else, a "lol, misplay" will fix the problem. -Don't worry about competitive on your first few months and ignore anyone that gives you shit about your deck because it's "too casual". -Related to the above, ignore the link rules for the first few weeks too and play on the pendulum rules to grow accustomed to the game without restrictions.

Some years ago, I went for 2 weeks in a vacation village near the sea. Every time I was going to the beach I always spotted some kids playing yu gi oh on some tables near the beach's restaurant. One day I ordered something to eat at the restaurant/bar and set in a table near them to hear some duels. They were 5 but one of them was something like 4 years older than the others and was making fun of them calling them noobs and claiming to be the best in the region. He won every match with his monarch deck because the other kids built some decks taking inspiration from the anime. The next day I appeared out of nowhere and challenged him, I did all my best to appear like a scrub. I was acting like in the anime, i brought a paper mat and I removed my sleeves. Laughing he accepted my challenge... I won 4 games in a row. Making some excuses he left and I helped the others understand the game better and made them realize their errors. We need to improve the yugioh community because this game is becoming less beginner friendly as time goes on. (Sorry for eventual errors I'm not English)

Everything after this isn’t going to answer your question so i‘ll just out my answer right up here: online stores, I know people who built entire decks with a 10$ budget from eBay, there are many other places to get single cards too, so you can build your own deck or if you want to just buy a whole deck from the internet Kinda same, I have a store which sells one single type of booster packs (battle pack 3 monster league) and I bought their last 7 packs lol. A couple minutes ago, when he said video game stores in his video I got reminded of that one store which sells video games and I do think that they probably sell yugioh stuff too although I won’t be checking it out this week or maybe not even next week cause school starts tomorrow

good tips ... being a new player to the game but around card shops for a while .. about the only other things i could say ... if you are trading with someone be clear how you are trading ... just casually ... or value ... and if value is said .. don't be surprised if the other person points out the condition of the card that was just tossed in a box with others over one from a binder.. :) and second thing ... a little more welcome to newer players .. we are obvious .. playing with older cards ... stopping every moment to read a card to try to figure out what it does ... and yes, we ask a lot of questions ... most everyone at my LGS is friendly about me being new to the game .. some slow down and explain stuff .. others just start talking to a different person instead.... we all gotta learn someplace!

My tip: If your deck box can accomodate it (what are you doing playing with a box that can't!?) put your side deck in your box behind the ED. The ED should be in different sleeves, which will help you not do what I do on a daily basis: almost shuffle it into your deck.

Something that REALLY helped me is checking prices to every single online or local store available. Compare prices for every single card you want to buy. 2x more tips from a newbie like I is some venues dont allow you to being food in if they have a cafe.or tuck shop indoors so bring another $5 encase or could always leave and eat what you brought outside. Second tip is type in when trading check price values of each card, being a new guy after opening packs at my locals I found it weird to see 5 guys standing around me when I'm opening.packs, it was intimidating and I almost lost a few to poor trades. I was smart to think of ebay and found a few of mine were worth $100-$20-$30 and I was getting return just trash. Keep hold of your stuff and perhaps do trades with people but 1x at a time and away from the crowds. One more thing, check ebay on everything monster reborn is common but it goes for om.ebay $2.50 so if you got 8 laying about you could trade for some stuff in the other guys folder

Pro tip, in order to be competitive...at the very least...you need to drop at least 500 bucks. Been playing since star deck yugi and kaiba. This isn't just for a deck. You need the deckbox and materials like a mat and sleeves but also a binder. This is so you can at least have competitive trades so that you you have more interactions with players, and build up the collection. It is really all about business skills to build it. You will find someone who will have a lower value to a card you want. Don't rip a new player/unkowing off who magically pulls ash secret and be like, oh it's worth 10 bucks...negotiate fairly, because even though you find a good deal from a player, be fair, because in the end, those people will network with other players, and you do not want to be the asshole who rips off people, then, you'll just be in limbo. Edit: also don't be an elitist...we get it you topped a ycs/regionals like 5years ago, but it doesn't mean you should be a dick and treat players who may have a lesser skill level than you like garbage. People want to have fun, and yes...not everyone wants to win that YCS or Regional. Remember it is a game, and you were there once before in their shoes. Help them grow and give them tips to continue their growth. And lastly if you play top tier/tier zero at locals and you won, and start being a dick then you're just trash anyways because you needed to be the douche to drop three thunders, 2 saryuja, a borreload, have 3 ash in hand, and 8 negates on board just to say you're a pro player. Don't be that guy.
@StarboyXL95 жыл бұрын
"pro player" seems more and more like an oxymoron in Yugioh these days as Konami continues to milk the cash cow the meta has become. You ever seen a professional match of Starcraft 2? Those guys are real professional players of a game. It takes less than 1% skill to play modern meta in Yugioh, the entire concept of archetypes pretty much proves this. A player of any game with actual skill will win consistently no matter what quality of "tools" they are given, meanwhile in Yugioh players literally just do a bunch of math to calculate optimum ratios of cards in deck building and then figuratively roll the dice when they draw their first hand. Doing math is not a marker of skill.

FYI I only choke chickens once a day. The other 23 hours and fifteen minutes I spend dueling myself!

where I live it's impossible to find people that still play. I really like Yugioh but I've got no one to play with IRL.

Spent around $160, mostly on all singles (90% foils), one gold mega tin, a few olders packs, and some sleeves. Able to make 6 really good decks: 2 burn decks, 1 noble knight deck, a cyber stein otk, a spellcaster/yugi deck, and a warrior beatstick. I play with my friend a few times a week but im looking to get back into the tournaments and locals again. Been 10 years since ive competed but im hoping to bring light to the older cards again. Really dont like the new changes and special summons going on.

Bro, for real. I've been back for two weeks after a 12 year break. Pendulum and link threw me waaay off. Synchro was the newest when I quit, with xyz on the horizon

You should make an update to this for Covid. Especially as someone who’s almost 30, your other videos about coming back to the game was spot on

Can't believe people are still playing this game.. I bought my first starter decks when I was 11 and played with friends for a while. I'm 31 now and my son plays it 😅😅 oh how time flies.

I built a rokket deck and I was surprised because I didn’t run chaos space, seyfert or savage dragon and it turned out well. (My strat was bringing out zeroboros and banishing the field and then getting another zeroboros to annoy my opponent)

i always know that there is online dueling but the reason why i like yugioh is because when i face of with some one i see them eye to eye instead of through a machine

love all your videos, can we see some OG deck builds team APS builds. maybe your favorites tournament. thinking of building a few decks specific for types/archetypes- would be awesome to see some ideas and rivalries/counters. quite overwhelming to get back into after nearly a 20 year break

nice video, the only problem in Las , or in my country, Chile, the price of the card and the decks are really different, in example, a normal deck, of 7 dolars, it cost 4.576 Pesos, but they sell the deck not for that price, they sell it for 20 Dolars, it's 13.000 pesos Chilenos. soo, it's hard to get that things without using the money that you save for more important things.

When you build you dack you need to pay attention to 1. Alot of lvl 4 monster 2. The cards in the dack support to each other. 3 . If you starter the best move is to buy a starter dack and lern the basick rule . After that you can buy a struchre dack After that you can build alone you are dack ( becouse to build you ultimite dack you need to knoo what the Ingredients for a dack ) You only need to pay samthing like 16$ not in a row so is not expansive. Good luck i op i help you.

I had a crazy deck when I was a kid that I built over like 5 years and ended up giving them to my younger cousin. Now I'm trying to get back into it, even if I don't know anyone to duel. I spent about $150 on cards and I have a pretty competitive deck. I really don't see how anyone could spend $500 or 1k on cards lol.

Not bad of a video TeamAPS, I would recommend maybe trying to do a band list video if you guys can. This would be very helpful for most of us in this community.

The main tip here is don't buy tier 0 OP decks for like $700 just to play them at your locals a few times before the deck gets hit on the ban list. Stick to consistent decks that have a very low chance of being affected by the ban list.

Very helpful video. Thanks for the tips. Not really a new player also, don't know anyone that is. I own 2 playmats, And all my decks are seleved. however as far as storage goes: I don't really like the whole individual deck box thing. My decks are bound together with rubber bands but, I put them on in a way to create even pressure so my cards don't get bent up. I actually just have more fun building decks and play testing them and dueling friends with the new decks I create Most recent builds are odd-eyes,and zombies. Next build is quliphorts then salamangreat minus the ashes I need those for my main deck I play with

Bro, I legit was in the EXACT same situation of what you said about Shaddolls. Although I saw the deck as unfair at first I then learned it was one of the fairest decks of all time and then began to love it and get the cards since they started to be reasonably priced. To this day I still don't understand why they hit Shaddolls so bad and really even AT ALL back then when they did other than Konami got greedy and saw that budget players were winning games and wanted to make more money rather than have a healthy and happy community.
