Wanted to come here and say that while it sucks, I definitely deserved the game loss. One of my Hornet Bits literally had BLOOD on it (I didn’t notice it when I borrowed it and thought it was coffee or soda or something when the judges showed it to me - they thought it was intentional sharpie markings or something).. after I told everyone what happened, one of my Australian ‘associates’ was like LOL I CANT BELIEVE THATS ONE OF THE COPIES I LET YOU BORROW, I LITERALLY CUT MY HAND OPEN WHILE OPENING THE PACK AND THERE WAS BLOOD EVERYWHERE. It was a pretty dumb situation lmao but ultimately it’s technically my fault for not checking my cards first. I didn’t own anything I used, and while I do usually try to be careful with not using europrints/weather-warped cards, I guess I assumed that since they were freshly opened from the newest set, nothing could possibly be wrong with them. It was still an oversight on my end and as a player of my caliber and with my experience, I should have known better. I barely finished piecing the deck together like 20 minutes before round 1 -borrowing from like 8+ different people - but even if I didn’t have time to check it then, I definitely should’ve done so before I went to sleep for day 2, and CERTAINLY before submitting it to a deck check in top 16. As unfortunate as it is, it was definitely avoidable and the judges were just doing their jobs. Part of playing this game at a competitive level is making sure your decklist is correct and that the cards are legally presentable. While I may have built an unbeatable, format-breaking, archetype-defining deck and played it to absolute perfection on a technical skill level, I failed in the other required tournament category and ultimately deserve the result I got. At the end of the day, all you can really hope for from any tournament is to learn something new to improve on for the next one. Play Hard Or Go Home!

Bothers the daylights outta me that people call them Brandish still. Judges at the events are probably annoyed as hell having to call the players back and tell them that there's no such card called "Brandish Maiden Rei" and that they have to rewrite their Decklists unless Typed. Major respect to Calvin for playing the game for so long and keeping strong. Here's hoping Konami doesn't boot the entire ARG Team out due to sour grapes.

This is definitely a good build and Calvin is a great player, but it kind of upsets me that the meta right now is 15 hand traps, a small Sky Striker engine, and a choose-your-own topping from another engine. It's less "what deck do you run" and more "what engine are you adding to your hand traps and SS cards"

I get it, but decks are too homogenized nowadays since most of the top decks are 50% the same cards. It feels like a really long tier 0 format. Except the tier 0 deck is "handtraps + drones" with a simplified version of another deck's engine thrown in as a tech choice. There are exceptions, I know, but for the most part it seems to be true.

Ethan Rodriguez Engage Is that one card that once in a while we get, that is crazy expensive but unfortunatelly has no replacement/substitue. Literally throw anything you want instead, cause no other card will work as Engage and no other card will boost your consistency as much. That's what he means by "lol"

spectrum 909 ABC has always been a trap heavy deck (a lot less in the destrudo version ) but since it's a going second deck he replaced traps with hand traps ...so how is it any different?

Cause he blinds second. If you have union hanger and a piece, you can make a turn 2 buster by linking into clara and using C effect to special summon out your last piece.
