RIP Max - my friend, mentor, AO teammate from 2004-2006 and best player I had the privilege of playing. Thanks for uploading this.

Back when winning your national championship granted you an invitation to worlds. I remember my nationals from 2005, my 1st one, where I ended up 9th place out of the top 8... The winner, Guy Israel, saw him in the video a couple of times, went to worlds for Belgium that year. The memories.... These names tho: Max Suffridge, Ido Marcus, Dexter Dalit, Markou Miltiadis,... MAAAAN I'm getting old =)

I'm still good friends with Guy Israel. I can't believe people still have footage of 05' Worlds in Tokyo. I saw him later on at a few SJC then at 08' Worlds in Berlin, Germany. Crazy to think how you can meet people around the world and become friends with them. I was one of the Americans to go besides Max S.

@@MiguelGarcia-nr7bk don't think I have Guy as contact on social media, so make sure to show him this video when you see/speak to him next, I'm sure he'll appreciate to see himself age 11 😁 And tell him Italy says hi 👋

I actually tagged him on FB so he can see it as well. Frank Debrito sent me the link and tagged me.

What a blast! UDE, which included Julia, Ian, and the Metagame staff like Jason, Jerome ran events like no other back in the early days here in the US. They did Mall Tours and set up the initial Yahoo Groups Judge Forum. A lot of time and effort was put into getting the TCG launched and running (at least in the US) by them - and Julia is still going strong! And who could forget Kevin from UDE posting on places like Pojo?! Had the privilege of playing and judging in some of the US events, including judging, locals, regionals, Shonen Jump Championships (those in the US remember Cyber Stein), and two of the US Nationals in 2007/2008. Though the anime, and game has changed a lot (I've since stopped playing irl), the memories of playing with friends and competitors will live on. Thanks for putting in the time and effort to source, compile, and create this video. It truly must have been an honor and exciting time for you to represent your country and gain new experiences all those years ago. Once a duelist, always a duelist.

My man Max Suffridge in his trademark hat and sunglasses 2:21 . Good times at locals and regionals back then. He is no longer with us sadly. Locals back then was always like a mini regional in our area. Max, Brandon Burks, myself John. Brandon and Max were always trading 1st and 2nd. I took a lot of 3rds and a few seconds, with like an 8th place regionals in Kentucky. We always had a minimum 30 turnout. Typically our brackets pushed 50+ I quit after Goats era. It truly felt as if we invented some of the meta strats in that area during the early 2000's. I was the first one to start creature swapping goat tokens. Max and Brandon picked up on that at first sight. They both taught me turn priority when mirage of nightmare came out and we were abusing MST's with it.

The comments might be weird using a translator I'm sorry. Thank you for posting such precious and wonderful data The 2005 World Championship, which is held in the goat format that everyone misses and still enjoys, feels great even if you watch it now in 2023, and the video where you can feel the atmosphere of the competition at the time is also great... Italian champion who uploaded the video I'd like to thank Mr. Namer once again I respect you!

Really really cool Video, since i also research the WCS Topic in this community i have to say this Video is what we needed. The older WCS are so much less documentated than the ones held today. Early internet, less knowledge in what the the TCG would evolve makes this really interessting. Thank you :)
