Nicely demonstrated, especially in the first 5 minutes or so--a good visual presentation of shifting and turning in a way that preserves the health of the knee joints.

Interesting comment about hips, keeping them at 45 degrees. Some teachers teach that hips/pelvis should face forward and gua should be closed to guard groin.
@kasumifu15415 жыл бұрын
This is a video about the basics.
@bricecc5 жыл бұрын
@@kasumifu1541 I thought it was just a difference in style, rather than basic versus advanced. You mean at the higher levels the hips are squared off?
@kasumifu15415 жыл бұрын
There can be very noticeable differences in stances, steps etc. when for example; fighting applications are being explained, because of the myriad of variables. The 45 degree guideline, as well as these other ones, are there of course for good reasons. A house is just as strong as its foundation is.

you want an external crutch to learn kung fu. this isn't the way so instead of thinking about how to have more convenience to suit you. do a detailed quality practice and use a journal to help you.
@CottonBoxer5 жыл бұрын
@ those videos in most cases aren't made to be a substitute for a teacher. so, with that said don't expect them to be presented so it meets your criteria as your criteria was never the focus of the producers of said videos. why did u stop chen style ? why do u learn yang style now? You have got to realize videos are made to present style X,Y,Z and not meant as instructional videos usually. the ones that are of an instructional nature assume the watcher has a certain level of skill already. just like certain books do as well. Yet, people think they will get in depth teaching from books/manuals as well as films which is a silly impractical way to think. these people try to make a living and feed their families via martial arts books/manuals/films they are not meant to teach the ORAL instructions that are spoken directly to students or disciples. you can't expect to give away their skill = kung fu for the amount you pay for books or dvd's etc.

Very poor camera work. You need to show the feet at all times because it is important. All you need to do is back up the camera. It seems so strange to chop off the feet.
