About Nightmare Pain, we use "layers" to decide what will happen. If multiple effects change how you conduct damage calculation, apply them in the following order: 01: Inflicts double battle damage. 02: Battle damage is taken by both players. 03: Battle damage you take is also inflicted to your opponent / your opponent takes any battle damage you would take instead. 04: Battle damage is treated as effect damage. 05: The player gains Life Points instead of taking battle damage. 06: Battle damage becomes 0. 07: Battle damage is halved. 08: Battle damage is doubled. 09: Battle damage becomes X (X being a predetermined value). 10: You do not take battle damage if it is more or less than X. (However, note that if the Battle Damage has become 0 when applying "06" effects, the remaining effects are not applied.) Since damage is reflected on step 3, the opponent takes it, but if Pain is negated somehow we move to step 6 and we take 0 Damage. In Paidra's case, Pain will try to reflect that damage but after that Paidra makes it 0 so they take no battle damage. If they attack any Yubel except Spirit they still take the effect damage from their effects though.

Finally, let's say Yubel with Pain on the field has 1000k ATK against a Mikanko or another Yubel with Pain on their board. The reflection happens only once so the player that would inflict battle damage normally (if there were no effects) is the one actually receiving it. No ping pong infinite loops here :)

I recently starting testing yubel and I can’t put the deck down I’m enjoying it so much I was gonna build tenpai along side yubel but I’m now thinking max rarity yubel is the move

I think the replacement effect of samsara works against unaffected tenpai dragons too. Also say your opponent has plasma/skill drain, would you be able to destroy a yubel monster using grave squirmers effect? My simulator test resulted in yes. How would you explain why it works?

Yea, squirmer activates and begins to resolve while in the hand. The summon and destruction effect both resolve in the hand and thus is not affected by skill drain. Skill drain wont start affecting a card in the middle of an effect resolution

@@lexvdw You are correct, Lotus works even against unaffected. The Grapha Dark World fusion and the Artifact Rank5 have rulings about it if you ever need to dispute a judge.

Bonus ruling linking away with Unchained isn't considered removal by a card effect so it won't trigger a Masquarade or the ritual spell of VV in gy when you take their Skull Guardian (ruling on Rage against Sky Striker Ace Raye). However that pesky Mirrorjade triggers by "an opponent's card" and when used as material for the Link Summon, SP is our card so the boardwipe will happen. Bonus tip about Favorite, you can cheese Snakes really hard by using CL1 Eternal for a revive, CL2 removal on Flamberge. Since neither player can activate effects, the lose the float. Finally knowing priority is really important. For example if you have both Yubel and Terror in your end phase, you can tribute Terror before it tries to nuke the board. Also Yubel tributes as an effect, so Terror can float into Ultimate that way and Throne will trigger as well if not used. About Mirrorjade VS SP end phase effects, the turn player must resolve first. A sneaky opponent will pass you priority once, you can pass back if you're not the turn player and now they have to resolve their Mirrorjade before SP returns. Of course if it's your turn, they will force SP to return before wiping with Mirrorjade.

Bonus interaction : Anguish with mirrorjade into AccessCode talker. They cannot use mirrorjade to wipe since you're priority player and resolve accesscode first.

Hey I have a general question… if you normal summon tour guide, use its effect to special summon samsara D lotus with its effects negated…. BUT, samsara D lotus effects tributes itself for cost.. wouldn’t that mean you can still attempt to activate the effect, tributing it, and since it’s no longer on field, the effect will actually go through and it can summon out the spirit of yubel…

You can't summon lotus with tour guide. Tour guide special summons a level 3 monster.

Tour Guide can't summon it but let's say the opponent uses Veiler as soon as you Normal Summon Lotus (same thing). You tribute Lotus to activate the effect so now Lotus is in the GY. If it were an effect like Sharvara that activates when it hits the GY or removed from the field (like Terror), then the effect would resolve properly. But Lotus will be negated. Why is that? A basic rule of the game is that cards/effects activate AND resolve at the same place (even the same column). So when Lotus tries to resolve, it checks where it activated; the field. And on the field it was negated by Veiler so the effect will stay negated. On the other hand, a card like Plasma or Skill Drain say "negate face-up monsters" so as soon as Lotus is tributed their effects stop applying on it so it resolves normally. Veiler however activated and resolved successfully negating Lotus so it's different. Finally if you activate the field effect of Spirit searching a S/T and the opponent activates Veiler, then you chain Book of Moon, Spirit will resolve successfully. Even if your opponent chains Imperm on top of your Book of Moon. While the latest chain will negate Spirit, as soon as it's flipped face down the negation wears off and since this happens before Spirit tries to search, the negation will be removed beforehand. This only works with facedown however, if instead of book of moon you had SP trying to banish, then the effect would still be negated.

Was hoping to see something about tenpai. Any idea how those interact? Does nightmare pain still deal damage even if you "can't activate" it in the battle phase because of the two head synchro for example? Lot's of tenpai interactions just make no sense to me.

Nightmare pain is not an activated effect. Its just a continuous effect so it will still make the transcendsnt attack yubel and they would take the damage.

​@@kevinalajko2756 Though true, be wary of Tenpai Dragon Paidra, the reflected battle damage is still battle damage and therefore Paidra's effect ("You take no battle damage from battles involving your FIRE Dragon monsters.") means they will not take damage. So make sure to be ready to deal with that.

im not 100% sure so be free to correct me but the tenpai rulings i read/heard are: - pain and yubel still do dmg as they are not activated effs - lotus works under the fieldspell bc it replaces the eff (same with the grapha dw fusion) - under paidra, pain does no dmg but og yubel does if attacked bc in that case its eff dmg - spoly ofc does not work under the fieldspell - nice to know, gates can only be activated once per turn but the effs are soft once per turn so if its turn 3+ and you have 2 you can reborn with both and also add back with both

@@TemporalDelusion an additional one, D-Barrier will negate a FIRE Dragon like Black Rose even with the field spell during MP1, because it isn't an activated effect but a "lingering" one. So they waste 2 bodies for nothing. About Trident Dragion, assuming they popped field + lvl10 so that now you can activate a card like Imperm, Trident Dragion has already resolved gaining the 3 attacks and the boost comes from the field spell, so even if you negate it can still attack 3 times for 6k damage.

If the opponent attacks og yubel while you have pain, 1 does she activate to do damage or does just take damage and 2 does the opponent take double damage because of yubel and nightmare pain?
