They put tape over their jaguars, and jazz masters cause under the tape is the rythm circuit. They lock in there preference with tape

agreed, every jazz master i`ve had the bridge just chooses to fuck up on me so i have to fix it every other month. Then I got jag and i havent had a single problem plus i just love noisy sound you can get from it!

I assume you mean the tape? It's so he doesn't hit the rhythm switch on the upper horn, which would dull the tone a bit. It's a common practice amongst Jazzmaster users.
