Ordinarily, having Acid Golem out on the field is something you don’t want. However, summoning him with the unicorn would have helped a lot since it would negate the curse that screwed Shark over.

@@Richtofenfan no- it’s basically the same in the Anime. No overlay units- no attacking with Acid Golem, and it has that terrible curse. Bringing acid golem out with its abilities negated is a good thing because otherwise, you’re gonna start taking a lot of damage real fast. If anything, it’s worse in the anime since when it’s destroyed, it’s owner takes damage, something the real thing doesn’t have.

Either way this is how the duel scripter wanted it to play out. Namely this guy Masahiro Hikokubo I think wrote these duels. Attacking with Acid Golem would also be useless since Yuma would have just negated the attack with Utopia.

XYZ Triangle Force is very underwhelming. For such a requirement, the effect should deal damage as well. This might be just because the LP difference Yuma and Vetrix was too big. I really think duels are better when the damage goes “equally” both way - like Yuma vs Kite Round 3. 6:46 The dub number soundtrack goes so hard especially for a boss monster like Heraldry Crest.

As for Acid Golem... You´d be surprised the number of times the anime has done whatever it likes and changed a card´s effect from its invented one (that is, the one made up in the anime) to the actual, real one (the one of the OCG/TCG). They usually play switcheroo for drama/convenience, because the removed effect would get in the way of the narration. I recall for example that in GX, when Power Bond first appeared, the damage side effect could be avoided if the summoned monster were to leave the field before the end of the turn. Then, in the next season, the damage would apply no matter what, just like in the TCG ruling. Although here it´s still the same season, it´s been already many episodes since Acid Golem was summoned by Kite, so I guess the creators decided to stick to its TCG effect in this case as well, which according to it, destroying it doesn´t make you to take any damage at all.

It’s reacting to Number 69’s power. All of the numbers Yuma and Vetrix summoned earlier didn’t affect the Sphere Field but Heraldry Crest did. It must be really powerful. The red color change is an Easter egg that the Sphere Field is made using Barian world’s power just like the energy form that took over Dr Faker.

I believe Yuma said that by tributing an Xyz monster with Seven Store he can draw a card. So he tributes Terrorbyte that’s one card and it’s 2 overlay units which is 2 cards. So he would draw three cards.

I just figured, if Yuma took Berners Falcon, Illumiknight and Genome Heritage would've lost their levels and Yuma's XYZ monsters would've gained levels instead. And he would've been able to summon some other Numbers, like Volcasaurus & Freezadon for example.

@Dane Harty Well, Terror-Byte can steal an opponent's monster that's level 4 or less. Berners Falcon is level 4, and Illumiknight & Genome Heritage are xyz monsters(which have ranks, not levels). So, unless Vetrix had 2 or 3 level 4s in his hand, summoning Heraldry Crest would've been a no-go.
