Pegasus is actually pretty young. If I’m recalling correctly, he’s 24 in the DM manga and I think the only way to calculate how old Pegasus was when he died is by Tetsu Ushio himself. Ushio was stated to be in his 50s in 5Ds, so that means Pegasus must have been around 64 years of age or so. Looking back at the original manga, Ushio is 16-17, so there’s a 7 year difference between him and Pegasus. So if the math is correct, then this means at least 30+ years have gone by since DM. Hey, it ain’t a chronological yugioh without timestamp tetsu ushio involved

When you were talking about Pegasus being dead and saying that he would've bee in his 60's in the 5D's arc, it reminded me that in the manga, Pegasus died in Duelist Kingdom after loosing to Bakura. The manga was very dark and included scenes that even the original anime excluded. For example, in the Duelist Kingdom finals when Bandit Keith lost to Joey and was hauled away, he confronted Pegasus and demanded the prize money. In the Sub he had a gun, while in the Dub he just pointed menacingly. (the abridged series makes fun of the change from guns to pointing menacingly) Then Keith was thrown out of the castle. However, in the manga, Keith had a knife and Pegasus used the power of the Millennium Eye to turn Keith's hand into a revolver and play Russian Roulette with himself. The manga was a lot more violent.

Fair enough, I'm a big crow fan but I can understand why people might not care too much for him, but he reminds me a lot of me, someone who had shit thrown his way (albit, not a tragic due to the fact that my city wasn't destoryed) and Yugioh helped me through those dark times same way it helped Crow who went on to be a big brother figure to a group of kids in the same way I have become a big brother figure to a youth group that I help out at so in a way Crow is a my anime spirit character and that's why I love him. Well I would be intrested to see him as a villain I'm glad that they went the way they did.

I just started rewatching 5Ds, and I definitely felt disappointed about Aki’s character development. She had so MUCH POTENTIAL, especially for redemption. Even without any cult influences, they could have started Aki’s healing journey by analyzing what Aki has to unlearn from Divine’s influences like her deck, her internalization of her actions (they had potential in the episode where Mikage exposes Arcadia’s crimes to Aki, and Aki and Yusei are bonding over betrayal), and her appearance. Idk…maybe it is too connected to the cult issues, but I feel like Aki had a lot of things to write about,

I would have MUCH preferred Rua/Leo getting his Signer Mark earlier instead of Crow. Like, you could've kept Crow as the sort of "Joey Wheeler, the best friend who tags along to help" character, but make Leo the Bearer of the Crimson Dragon's tail. 'Cuz when you think about it, every other Signer's Mark reflected who they were. Yusei started off with the Tail, waving behind in the wind and supporting everyone he could from afar, but after he showed his courage and determination, fighting off BOTH the Goodwin brothers and Kalin, and bearing the sins of his father on his back, he climbed his way up to the Dragon's Head. A leader, a visionary, a hero who would never back down to a fight, Yusei proved that he was more than the pieces that made him who he is. Jack bore the Wings of the Dragon, and soared like Icarus on wax coated feathers. He started with nothing, was given a an opportunity to fly above where he was, and took it with fervor, but in the end, ended up crashing and burning, spiraling into depression and only being brought back by love and support, something he hadn't had on experienced in a while. He may not have flew as high, but boy did he love feeling the sun of his back. Akiza, bearing the Foot of the Dragon, always wanted somewhere to belong. Her father was always busy with work as a child, her psychic powers made her seen as a monster in school, Arcadia used her as a weapon, it was only after Yusei and the gang broke through her Black Rose Witch persona and got her to work through her trauma that she finally had something to reliably call her own; her friends. She found her place to stand among other people like her, and it kind of helps that she uses a Plant deck, because there are so many puns I can use to further my point. "Planting your feet, rooting/uprooting, blooming," the list goes on. Luna had the Hand of the Dragon. While you'd think such a powerful beast's claws would be devastating in such a kind soul's control, not the case here. Luna's connection to Duel Spirits, like Jaden Yuki before her, allowed her a level of compassion and understanding that not many other duelists had. She willingly volunteered herself to help save Ancient Fairy Dragon from Earthbound Immortal Cuscillu, and was willing to help Regulus despite his savage state. Sure, that child-like innocence and faith that everyone has a good side may have bitten in the ass once or twice (that time she got kidnapped by ghosts early on in Season 3, and her duel with Lester come to mind) but in most cases she's willing to extend an open hand to anyone, regardless of how they seem. Now, between Leo and Crow, before the writers flipped the script and wanted Crow to be the Fifth Signer, I'd say Leo fits the Tail better than Crow. Crow's whole character is that he's the guy sucker punching bullies in the schoolyard, standing up for the week when they can't stand up for themselves. I mean, when we first met him in Season 2, he's adopted a bunch of orphaned kids in the Satellite after their parents have either died or otherwise become unavailable. I'd say that fits more "The Heart of a Dragon" more, someone who would stare adversity in the face and keep standing regardless, the spirit of a fighter and a champion. Versus Leo, who ABSOLUTELY should gotten the Tail. Nobody thinks about the Tail of a beast, unless the express purpose of said tail is to attract attention. Leo is exactly that: the underdog, the scrappy little nobody that everyone underestimates, but is far more useful and helpful than anyone else expected. He kicks Yusei back into overdrive after escaping the Facility, he takes Luna's place in the Fortune Cup when her confidence is at its lowest during the story, *he takes on an Earthbound Immortal by himself and almost wins*--considering Yusei would've been passing the torch from himself to Leo with the Tail, that could even be symbolic of "Look what I've achieved, Leo. Someday, you could be just as good, if not better." That would've added onto Leo's hero worship of Yusei, and his want to be a better Duelist, WHY DID THEY GIVE THE TAIL TO CROW?!

The thing that always gets me is: if the original characters are still alive (seeing as they are roughly the same age as Trudge), where are they? The events of 5Ds takes place basically in Domino city after it was destroyed, so where did all the main characters go? You cant tell me none of them came back to the city, none of them took up turbo dueling. You think Yugi would hang up his deck and just watch other people play because he can't keep up his deck with the times? They've got to be somewhere in the world. Huge characters in the universe dont just vanish with no mention of them in the show.

The reason I see Pegasus passed would be his immense use of the millennium eye, since we know that at some degree, the items took actual impacts on the wielders health condition and we know, that Pegasus used the eye very careless to an extent where negative health effects where expected. Despite that, he already made an already drained impression in GX when he awakened the Rainbow Dragon considering his age and the short time span between DM and GX. But it also could've been, that his regrets took over he got after his girlfriend thing. I mean, it was confirmed, that he already suffered high depressions during DM and that it didn't went better.

Other side notes: - Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds' original concept when it was in development stage was a Yu-Gi-Oh! show with Super Sentai motif (aka Power Rangers in Ameracan Adaptation). It is one of the reasons why there is so called "sixth signer/dragon" they're basically the "Sixth or Irregular Ranger" of the show. - Crow originally has no official surname in Japanese dub at least in the whole Dark Signers arc until the introduction of Three Emperors of Yliaster to team 5Ds in season 2 (the one after Primo was defeated by Yusei using accel synchro). His surname "Hogan" was originated in the official English dub of 5Ds until the Three Emperors of Yliaster in the Japanese dub officially addresses Crow as Crow Hogan. - Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds is so dark themed that it has the most number of death tolls outside of duel related causes ranging from thousands or probably even hundred thousands, and most of them were never survived or resurrected. From Satelitte and Bomber's town Ener-D incident, Kyosuke's death in the precint (not to mentioned the officer that he killed previously), to the father of two kids in Crash Town Arc up to the number of casualties died in the Z-One's chaotic timeline.

The way Pegasus was designed always gave me the impression that he was maybe in his mid-late 50s cause of his gray grayish white hair so if he were in his mid 50s in DM that would make him in his 90s around 5ds so he most likely died of natural causes

One really hard to spot easter egg in 5D's was in the dub version, and it was a back ground music from gx that they did use during the 5d's vs ragnarok duel. At the moment when thor (if i remember well) come back on the field for thefirst time. It s actually one of the GX's "bad thing" music and i find it pretty cool

You can definitely tell the tone of 5Ds shifted after the first arc. If i could go back and rewrite it I would have made Divine a major antagonist. And still have the mystery of illiaster until the end

As much as I loved 7DS(or 6DS should've renamed the team) but sometimes I wish they did more to the Turbo Duels like putting Speed Spells to the circuit for duelist and while at it Speed Traps to make the duels more intense. Turbo Duels are sort of the gimmick of 5D's and they're quite a sight to behold. Combining the energy of racing motorcycles with all the fun and excitement of Duel Monsters, Turbo Duels were a pretty over-the-top idea for Yu-Gi-Oh!, but they didn't add all that much overall. Other than being on a motorcycle and the addition of speed spell cards, Turbo Duels aren't all that different from the regular duels. In-universe, it adds a level of danger to the duels, but it's really just the same game with a race added to it.

If I remember correctly there were flashbacks where Blackwinged Dragon was shown and Lifestream wasnt, indicating that their both signer dragons but aren't normaly acting at the same time as shown by those flashbacks. It may be true that his future was supposed to be different but it doesnt change the fact that their we're always 5 dragon signers when the earthbound immortals rose up again. The first time it isnt like this is when Leo/Rua sacrifices himself for Jack and his sister Luna/Ruka which resulted in Ultimaya Tzolkin deeming him worthy to be a signer and therefore turning him into a signer creating the new Dragon Sign: Heart of the Dragon

I’m sure there is a memorial for Pegasus because in the Yugioh Duel Monster manga, he is actually killed by Yugi. And shows, like Yugioh Dark Side of Dimensions, was starred after the manga, meaning Pegasus was also dead in DSOD, meaning that every show could have been after the manga.

another reason why after dark signers and before cradle probaby fell apart was because the story changes in dark signers that changed stuff could have made it hard for the writing team to think of stuff to continue it and many plot points changed. I wish Jack and Carly did get together, as that's one scene from the show that I truly think would have left an impact.

5D's is really solid. I like the original Yugioh series but I like how 5D's is more mature and the storyline of it. Bonds Beyond Time seals the deal pretty good making all 3 series complete. Too bad the dub screw things around but they have their own moments with easter eggs, catch phrases and what not. In the end it is all about selling cards. But I wish to see some reboot or even card based lore anime instead of focusing in the game aspect

Now that you mention the 4kids incident, here in Latin America the dub was cut shortly, they didn't even finished the Dark Signers arc. The dub was moved from Mexico (where DM, GX and Zexal were dubbed) to Colombia (they also dubbed the BBT movie). Also the series were moved from Nickelodeon to regional channels that you had to pay extra to watch, so they were less accessible. I don't know if it's actually related but there might be some connection

Another interesting cameo is seen during the final battle with Z-one (admittedly I skipped ahead to watch it so I don’t know much about the buildup). It periodically cuts to Lazar (been watching mostly dub atm) in a briefing room or something and there’s a guy in a suit that bears a striking resemblance to Raphael. The main giveaway is the face and sideburns but he is also kinda built like him too. I don’t know if this is bluntly stated in earlier episodes but I thought it was interesting.

For Leo or rua in his Japanese name It would be plausible for him to be a signer but instead of the crimson dragons eye he would have akisa’s claw marks due to the fact that Luna has the claw mark and the fact Leo and Luna are twins and akisa would get the tail mark

This is late but, one of the DS games let you play as a new member in the Arcadia movement, probably where the cut content of the show into the game script. Actually a lot of the World championship video games were pretty good if I recall
