Put a 8x's on it with the sniper compensater, vertical or small verticle grip, extended fast mags, with the cheek pad so you can reduce recoil and snipe them ultra fast. Gotten me hundreds of winner winner chicken dinner's.

I originally had this setup with a Choate side scope mount and a 9x Bugbuster scope. I found it to be a bit on the heavy side. Never know, I might switch back at some point.

I may follow suit with the wolverine dot but I have tapped the original (not matching) dust cover and mounted a rail flat to it. i also have made an adapter to make the duckbill on the mag unnecessary so I cut them off my 20 round mags. I also have a 5 round mag for hunting. Does the magpul stock make a real difference over the original tapco? Also if you indeed are using this as a battle rifle, what form of rig are you using for mags?

You won’t be disappointed with the SightMark Wolverine red dot. As far as mounting options, I’ve only had experience with the Choate SKS mount that I originally had drilled and tapped to this firearm. That mount was extremely solid. It was a bit heavy and the lack of a solid picatinny rail limited the optic placement. My research indicated that all other mounting options had issues. There are other versions of the rear sight mount, like the one I’m using that don’t require modification. The use of the CTR stock on this setup was mainly because the cheek rest was easy to modify. The Wolverine red dot doesn’t sit as low as a trs25 or similar optic, so I wanted a bit of extra height and didn’t care for what was available on the market. In the video I said this COULD be used as a battle rifle. I have my rigs set up for AR/AK. I do have pouches that accommodate the SKS mags. I would think that the problem there would be that you could only run four on a chest rig Because the duck bills wound have to face outward. If you don’t have the duck bills maybe you could use an AK setup.

A.J. C. I personally haven't had major issues with the rail I mounted 300 rounds in, I personally use a one setup for my sks, the 308 mag pouches work fantastic without the duckbills on the mag. anything you'd recommend that wasn't covered in the video or has developed sense?

There’s two things that bother me about this build. 1) I can’t find a metal magazine that functions. I’ve tried many. Polymer Promag and Tapco work perfectly. 2) I’m always jumping back and forth on weather or not to put a scope setup on this firearm. The Choate mount would be perfect if it had a picatinny rail. If you add a picatinny rail onto the Choate mount it makes the scope too high, not to mention looks odd. I did originally have it setup this way with a compact 1-9 bug buster scope. Scope sat far enough back that I could still use stripper clips. Just couldn’t get past how unprofessional it looked. I don’t care for any of the other mount setups. So in the end, I think that I’m gonna keep it like this.

Is this TAPCO stock? or ATI? Do you know maybe if YUGO SKS fit on FAB stock? Thanks.
@ajcj19704 жыл бұрын
Mine is a Tapco stock. Was just checking out the Fab Defense site and seen a picture of one of their chassis with a Yugoslav SKS (you can tell because the grenade launcher). So I’m gonna say yes it will fit.

Do you have to change the magazine or can you keep the stock magazine
@ajcj19703 жыл бұрын
Technically you can and it will function. Unfortunately when you start reconfiguring this type of rifle you must consider 922R compliance. Which means that a certain number of parts must be USA made. In this case the magazine is considered three parts. So I would suggest doing a little research on 922R. There is a lot of good information online, along with some “worksheets” that you can just mark what you’ve replaced and it will tell you if you’re compliant. I actually carry a miniaturized copy of the worksheet in a small ziplock bag onboard this rifle just Incase I’m ever questioned.

I'm pretty sure Tapco advertised the stock set as being compliant. Just enough parts if you install the whole package. I bought the OD green stock 15 years ago and threw away the package. I'm sure it's still on their website though.
