Who are the Gurkhas? Gurkhas are the martial race of Nepal. Gurkhas are predominantly formed by the Mongoloid race-ethnic group of Nepal namely the Magar, the Gurung, the Rai, and the Limbu. The British officers have recognized these four ethnic groups as a martial race. Collectively the Mongoloid race people of Nepal have been known as Kirat since ancient times. Kiratas are mentioned as warriors and deadly warriors in various Vedic books and scriptures including the Mahabharata. These four Kirati ethnic groups (Magar, Gurung, Rai, and Limbu) have supplied their young man for the British Army since as early as 1815 AD. The term Gurkha came from the word Gorkha, a town west of Nepal where Hindu King Prithvi Narayan Shah started his expansion to unify the country into modern Nepal in the late 17th century. In around the 18th century, a war broke out between Nepal and the British Empire who was ruling India at that time because of border tension. The Gorkha army led by P.N Shah fought bravely against the British foes. Although the British won the war, they really couldn't colonize Nepal. Because of bravery and tenacity shown by the Gorkha army, the British started recruiting Gorkha soldiers into the British army. The British officers used their own term "Gurkha" instead of Gorkha to call the martial man of Magar, Gurung, Rai, and Limbu recruited for the British army. But in Nepal and India, Gorkha is still being used. With the turn of 2000 AD, Kiratis have been called by different names. Some scholars called them Mongol. Others call them the Himalayas race. Still, others write them as 'indomitable peasants". The British officers call the Kiratis "Martial Race". Gorkha and Gurkha are the other two names added in 18th century AD. Not forgetting "the Bravest of the Braves" was given by Sir Professor Sir Ralph Turner. By 1990s the term "MaGuRaLi" came to exist to abbreviate Magar-Gurung-Rai-Limbu. No matter what names are given to Kirat people, however, the most often used in the past and appropriate seems to be the "Kirats".

NATO was there for intervention and so their troops only engaged in self defense. Had they been there for conquest, it would have been game over pretty fast especially with bombing. Gurkhas were sent in as peacekeeping troops so no surprise.

Gurkhas and American Delta Force didn't have so good time in Kosovo against the Serbian army and police. All of the things we see here are filmed after Serbian army and police withdrew from Kosovo tricked by the Kumanovo agreement. Before that, they made several attempts to invade but they failed miserably. Even funnier, just two years later 9/11 happend, planned and organized by the very people NATO protected in Kosovo and Bosnia. Even f. in Bin Laden was in Bosnia and Kosovo and had a Bosnian passport. All in all tipical colonial slave soldiers, they fight for a peace of bread.
