The concert in Munich on January 24 was simply wonderful. And I had the unbelievable pleasure to meet Ms Wang after the concert, talk to her a few minutes, and she is really an absolutly friendly down-to-earth woman. Thanks Yuja for this short moment, I am deeply impressed.

@@beckerhanshermann8372 Bei der kurzen, aber sehr herzlichen Begegnung in ihrer Garderobe gab es dazu keinen Anlass. Abgeschminkt und in Winterjacke, eine kleine, sehr freundliche, aparte Person. Natürlich kenne ich das Märchen von H.C. Andersen, zugegeben ein passendes Beispiel. Es ist aber im wahren Leben nicht die alles erklärende Antwort. Bestimmt kennen Sie (jetzt bin ich schon beim Sie...) den Film "Club der toten Dichter", in welchem es eine entscheidende Scene gibt. Nämlich, als der "Captian" die Schüler auf ihre Desks steigen lässt. Auf die Frage, warum, meint er, es ist im Leben wichtig, auch mal die Perspektive zu ändern (Hitchcock hat das meisterhaft beherrscht). Und eben darum geht es mir, nämlich um eines: Sie bringen es nicht fertig, in weiser Ruhe und Abgeklärtheit andere, ebenso gerechtfertigte, individuelle Eindrücke gelten zu lassen. Im Gegenteil, Ihre Ironie ist kaum zu übertreffen. Wobei Sie genau das, worauf es bei Yuja ankommt, nämlich die Musik und ihre Umsetzung durch die Pianistin, gänzlich außer acht lassen. Der Verdacht liegt nahe, dass sie in gewisser Weise nicht anders sind als die Dame, sie wollen polarisieren. Lassen Sie die Menschen wie sie sind und unterschätzen Sie bitte keine anders denkenden und empfindenden. Und, by the way, wenn ich Sex sehen will, gibt es tatsächlich andere Möglichkeiten. Bei Yuja sehe ich eine junge, den Klassikbetrieb etwas entstaubende, sehr freie und erfrischende Individualistin, die durch härteste Arbeit das erreicht hat, was sie ist. Und nochmal by the way: Viel schlimmer finde ich das Outfit so mancher Konzertbesucher, in Bermudashorts, T-Shirt oder Jeans. In diesem Sinne.

From this view of the concert, it occured to me to wonder if the artist practiced in the nude. I don't mean this in a sexual context, but more like if one were viewing a piece of art or a painting by a master. Combined with her outfit and her abandonment to the music it would not seem out of place. There is another view of this performance which does evoke this wonderment, hence the "from this view". Great performance to one of my favorite pieces of music.

I heard this--the Jazzband version--for the first time in Hamburg's Elbphilharmonie two nights ago (22.1.24, travelled from Munich). Of course Wang was sensational, but so was the MCO: not an American in the bunch and yet utterly authentic, with a real feel for the jazz and blues elements. The crowd--staid and sober North Germans--went two degrees beyond wild.

I was thinking about Ms. Wang and the why? Of her outfits. It has been my experience that Chinese children are often druven by their parents to achieve. Even if they have little musical talent, they have to sacrifice alot to practuce for many hours. Her outfits are guaranteed to grab peoole's attentiion and not in s good way. It's as if she saying "I will do what I want, and I don't care who likes or dislikesi it; a rebelious attiitude, which she herself, seems unconscious of. What is telling is that it distracrs fom the music. Technique is at the service of the music. No doubt her technique is astounding , but is it in service?

Рахманинов вовсе не нуждается в джазовой обработке! Не люблю эту пианистку, техникой никого не удивишь- огромное количество молодых пианистов обладает техникой не хуже! Одни внешние эффекты, ее игра не будоражит душу, не трогает. Поэтому она изобрела иной тип воздействия: как можно больше оголить свое тело, постоянно меняя наряды, Все это выглядит как дешевый трюк, а больше- как неуважение к публике.😅
