There seem to be many variations of this story. Enjoyed this version of the tale.

Well done. I have seen that move Kwaidan-The Woman of the Snow-"Yuki Onna" ,it seems like a little version of that. It is a sad story to me.

Wish the timelaps turn me back to my childhood-days, and the wise Grandma`s tales spread out arround the world, like this (here quite unknown) masterpiece saved by Yakumo Koizumi, better known as Patrick Lafcadio Hearn. Thx 4 share! Love&Peace Ljubav&Mir Liebe&Frieden

damn what a fucking coincidence it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that girl in question might be the snow woman in a human guise !

So ... the snow witch spared her husband's life because of (or rather thanks to) the children, and said that if he didn't take good care of them, she would come back and kill him ?

Nice story, who thinks Tales from The Darkside's Gargoyle story borrowed from this story?

So...was the reason for the snow woman to even seek out the guy to be her husband in the first place?

This is a very interesting story. There are so many versions of this. There is an American version, which was a story called A Lover's Vow and it was a sub story of the movie, Tales From The Dark Side, but instead it was a gargoyle. It would be nice if there was a male version where it is a male demon falling for a young woman and then he appears as a handsome man to her falling in love with her and having children with her, but then makes the mistake of admitting what happened and then other consequences.
