@gypsysisterlove4 I saw him on an interview with the BBC and he was helping Romanies in the Uk. They asked him why he was helping them and he said, his mother was a Gypsy. Yul Brynner led a four man team that presented a petition to the United Nations for Romani membership in 1978, and has served as representative on the UN Economic and Social Council and in UNICEF. Yes, an amazing performer!.. About his mother being a Gypsy, I watched an interview in which his son said that his dad loved making up all sorts of stories about his background whenever speaking to people he did not know, leaving them to believe him. He loved Gypsy songs and music, but his mother apparently had no gypsy blood :-))

You are mistaken. Yol Brynner was Russian of German origins. Before the Revolution of 1917 there were thousands of naturalised Germans living in Russian. After the Revolution Yol Brynner's family emigrated to Kharbin (China) a town with a huge Russian population. He was educated there as Russian and Orthodox Christian.
