You are correct. The red loop to the top. Twist the string 3 or four times to the fight. Brace the bow by placing the upper tip above your head. Push the grip down. Pull the bottom limb up. Remove the lower string loop from your mouth after placing the lower limb on your thigh. Careful. You might break the bow. Armin. More string twist. Tenouchi, Tenouchi, Tenouchi. Reality push the bow forward. Push, Push, Push from the bottom of your feet. Oh yes, a breath to!

Yumi is comparable to manchu bow in heavy arrow projecting, while can also handle light arrows well. The Kyudo technique can also fix lots of archery problems. I suggest diving deeper into it in the future:)

What are the pos with the asymmetric shape? There must be some pos and some cons. By composition (traditional material, modern material and build tradition) it must be big to be this powerful, and bigger than the shoulder height pf a person, so by necessity it must be higher than it can be deep, resulting in an asymmetric bow? Wonderful presentation by the way :)

why would bow run the string on the right side? that would make LH and RH shooters have quite a different experience.
@niel36393 ай бұрын
in kyudo there are only right hand shooters.
@Lionall3 ай бұрын
Yumis are usually tailored to the person who's going to use it, and they don't really get passed around, so the LH, RH question is a bit irrelevant in this aspect. But, they are made this way to lessen the effect of archer's paradox, and to help the rotation of the bow in the hand (it has to do something with the perfect release, but don't ask me how, I didn't research the topic that far). Most Yumi bowyers offer left or right handed string options and even middle positioning, when ordering. I would like to compare a the string alignment to a left or right handed riser in case of a takedown recurve, but obviously the difference in shooting experience is not that glaring, you can still shoot a RH yumi with LH you just have to compensate a whole lot more.

@stevenparsons44643 ай бұрын
@felixjaeger1635 CA. Bows are placed in a sleeve and then wrapped. Often, a third protection is added. If you place it on the roof, it may become very cold or overheat. Delamination is a real possibility for bamboo and glass bows. I have carried nobi length bows and ya cases on public transport. If you live the spirit of kyudo, others accommodate your effort.

@user-jk3bp1wk2x string stability. The strong limb is the lower. Samurai era bows often were 100 pound draw weight war bows. Bamboo is a grass thicker at the bottom. In order to have a proper tiller, the top must be long.
@1czechit13 ай бұрын
the center would have a shock like an English longbow. So the archer grips the lower third where the shock/vibration (node) has no vibration. That is the reason... also the shorter bottom allows an archery to shoot from a kneeling position.
@stevenparsons44643 ай бұрын
@@1czechit1 not to mention the very long riser. Tenouchi, much like the "claw" of manchu archery 🏹 grip pushes to nullify hand shock.

@@stevenparsons4464 My understanding is the Yumi is really only gripped with the little finger and "trapped" with the thumb closing on the middle finger and the ring finger. Is this correct?
@stevenparsons44643 ай бұрын
@1czechit1 tenouchi. The bow is pushed with the thumb. The string is held with the thumb. The bow is drawn with a breath. So. You Don't want to strangle the bow. You don't want to drop it either. You want to hold it under tension of the draw weight balanced. More grip with the middle than the ring to the pinky hard enough to sustain the push. Push. Push. Push.

I am also a Kyudoka and I am very embarrassed by MaksymMikulski who is damaging Kyudo with disrespectful behavior in public. One of the central aspects of Budo is respect. Anyone who does not adhere to this is not practicing Budo. I would like to thank Armin Hirmer for using his reach to make not only Yumi but also Kyudo better known. Of course, one could criticize some things, but only in a respectful and constructive way.
