same thing with parrots, they put them in those ridicusly small cages just for their singing and if they stop they just bring them back to the shop and buy new ones. just because a budgie cost around 15 dollars doesnt mean that you can treat him like a toy

@@lisalisa-zw4qp I couldn't agree with this more. My aunt got a budgie for my cousin (who didn't want one) because of how cheap they were. It sat in a tiny cage with no toys for its entire life, literally never allowed out of the cage. It died after about a year, I was so thankful it passed away, which is such a horrible thing to say but it was a relief that it no longer had to live like that. (I was 14/15 at the time and scared of my aunt, plus my parents told me this is the normal way to treat a bird. If it happened now, I would say something and try to get the bird removed. I still feel guilty that I didn't).

As a bun mum can confirm that “play dead” was very likely a tranced bun. But I will also say that buns will play dead by weird napping positions giving their bun parents heart attacks. It’s more they sleep in increasingly more disturbing positions the more they trust you not to hurt them while in such a vulnerable state

TW: Animal Abuse I really fucking hate people who impulse buy pets and treat them like little toys or decorations. My parents would impulse buy pets all the time: dogs, cats, fish, guinea pigs, hamsters, a bird, and even a HORSE. They loved calling themselves animal lovers too, but, tbh, most of these animals would barely last a year with them in that house; they’d either end up being given away, dying due to stress and/improper care (they’d give the guinea pigs weekly baths, and I remember a point where my mother had actively tried to kill our Beta with bleach once before we gave him to a far more responsible person who ended up caring for him for YEARS), or being euthanized for behavioral issues because training dogs didn’t happen beyond teaching them how to sit and lay down. I think the most egregious example so far is my cat. They waited for me to leave for boot camp and wrote to me, in a letter, that they had given her to a farm. I honestly don’t believe they properly gave her to someone else: they either just dropped her off somewhere near a farm or they had her euthanized; they wouldn’t even tell me where they took her so, if she truly had just been given away, I could explain to the person that my parents had given them a cat that wasn’t theirs to give away. Their reasoning for doing all this? They just didn’t like her personality. That was it. These people and a lot of people who impulse buy pets love to call themselves animal lovers but when you get down to it? These animals, more often than not, end up abused and mistreated because the people who impulse buy them have no conceptual idea of how to care for them. As soon as that pet becomes work, the owner gets bored, or just they just don’t immediately behave the way they want without any proper training, they’ll throw that pet out, decry them as chemically imbalanced, and start over with a new animal. Rinse and repeat. When these people post tiktoks about impulse buying pets or encourage others to do so, I always think back to the MANY dead pets my parents had impulse bought. I hate these people with a burning passion.

My hamster passed away recently at the ripe old age of five, and it really kills me to see people abusing hamsters. Like, putting them in tiny enclosures, litetally torturing them, giving them baths. If you *have* (I had my hamster for literally five years and I only had to do this once towards the end because she got poop stuck to her, I can't imagine why else you'd *need* to do it??) to bathe your hamster, just get a warm, damp wash cloth and wipe them down. A lot of people were all “my rabbit always lays on its back!” In the comments to the rabbit one. As someone who’s cared for rabbits my entire life, I’ll tell you this was 100% staged. The closet my bun gets to laying on her back is when she gets really good rubs and flops over on her own, sometimes rolling over. She likes belly rubs because she's hella weird, but regardless, I know she still isn't tranced. It's so dangerous and people should really do research before trying anything new with an "exotic" pet. Prey animals are different than predators.

Bunnies might sleep on their back or side when they're very comfortable and trust their owners, but in this case it was clearly staged which is disgusting. For the duck one, I'd like to point out that this could encourage people to "help" something hatch by opening the egg up once or before it pips. The problem with this is even if the chick or duckling is old enough to hatch, if they don't hatch themselves most of the way, breaking the egg shell would break the blood veins on the inside and it would most likely die either from lack of oxygen or bleeding out

I only recently learned this from, A Chick Called Albert. That's a channel I definitely recommend.
@colemorgan3356
@colemorgan3356 3 жыл бұрын
Afaik, the blood vessels inside of the egg are normal, and the animal will likely break them when hatching. With snakes at least, when the clutch starts hatching, you can cut a small hole or slit in the shell to help the baby get out, just in case its egg tooth didn't develop properly. Bird eggs would be trickier, since the shell is hard, but I'd think it'd work similarly. It's just important to leave the baby alone after you make the cut (they'll come out on their own), and to only make the cut when the rest of the clutch starts to hatch

When you mentioned bathing small animals, I know that you can only give a guinea pig a bath if they have a skin condition. Saskia from LA Guinea Pig Rescue has a few guinea pig bath videos and how to do it properly.
@LadyLucyla
@LadyLucyla 3 жыл бұрын
Exactly, in fact i heard you should only bath any rodent and rabbits (except chinchillas, as i heard you should NEVER bath them but correct me if i'm wrong) in the case of skin condition or maybe if they are very old and can't clean themselves properly. Also sometimes with longer haired guinea pigs they sit in their pee and the hair around their butt gets matted together, i heard in that case a "sitting bath" can help to loosen it up so you have an easier time cutting it off, but all these cases are more llike exceptions, most pets hate bathing, especialy with hashs soaps so really bathing should only be considered when the benefit for the pet is greater than the stress it causes.

I got a dog in order to cope with my depression and trauma. She's a Papillon named Wednesday, and I always worry if what I do or what I say might hurt her or make her nervous. I can't imagine caring so little about beautiful animals to the point of driving them to a stress-induced death or continuously abusing them. I'm a strong believer in the power of information and hope that proper animal care is made common. Also, as a little personal note, I'm an artist, and I use many of your videos as background noise in order to draw. Did anyone else see that Swaggy (the husky) had dye on his ears? At least I’m assuming that was dye on him. In order to make his ears a bright, hot pink… I don’t trust that person with animals at all 😡 While it is possible for predator and prey animals to become friends, especially with farm animals (there’s many cases of dogs being close friends with goats, horses, chickens, sheep, etc), but you shouldn’t just place a mouse in front of a dog like that. Unless you ABSOLUTELY trust your dog not to attack, you shouldn’t just place a mouse in front of a dog. One of my dogs actually ate a live mouse whole once when my cat brought one in, so yeah. I’m not going to bring her any mice any time soon. (I tried to stop her from doing it but she did it so quickly that I couldn’t get it from her. The cats had cornered the mouse into the bathroom and both of my dogs were in there, and I was about to catch the mouse but then my dog picked it up with her mouth and ate it. She was a stray dog and likely had lived on mice and other animals for a while so it was part of her instincts so I can’t really blame her for that. She was fine though, don’t worry.) Also, why not instead of posting videos of people cracking open eggs so animals are “hatching”, why not post videos of animals actuslly hatching? Because it’s a really cool process of how chicks hatch from eggs. I’d love to watch a chick hatching timelapse video.

@@official_jack Yeah, maybe they did use pet safe dyes... but even if they did I don't think you should use them on the INSIDE of your pet's ear, it's possible that could cause problems to your dog's hearing, but I don't know for sure. Imo dogs look pretties in their natural state, not when painted on. But in moderation and with pet safe dyes it's fine, but don't like completely recolor your dog's dur. Just add bits of color. imo excessive dying of your dog/cat's fur or using unsafe dyes is animal abuse and should be banned. So when I was really really little, my parents decided to get me a Beta. Blue the Beta. Very creative name from a 7 y/o I know. Anyways. I recall the steps we took and even the set up, and while watching these videos I’m going ‘How the frick did Blue live for 7 years?’ Because we did *all* the no nos and course I took the folk’s word as gospel and really didn’t have access to look up this stuff in the first place. Barely a gallon tank. Round bowl. No filter. By a window so temperatures fluctuated in winter. Legit think the only thing that kept him alive was the fact we had three actual aquatic plants in his bowl. Plus me being a good child and ensuring they ate every day. There was not a single day Blue did not get fed unless I was on a trip or something. He died in summer but at that point we figured it was his time. So there’s my little story, and yes. Parents should ensure that they look up this stuff as well on caring for whatever animal they are getting their child. I don’t have fish now- instead I have the most spoiled Canadian Goose. Access to barn during winter, heated water tub, daily walks to the river, cuddles (yes. That kind of Canadian Goose likes cuddles), neighboring and wild geese he can hang out with (if he wants to- more often than not just honks at the neighbor’s goose), a freaking pasture they can go out and graze as well as a ditch they are free to explore. I wonder why GooseGoose doesn’t leave, but then I remember the kind of place he lives.

I hate to break it to you but no matter how well you know your cat or rat or any other animal, they are just that - an animal. Without warning even the most docile animal can 'act out', especially if they're a predator around a prey animal. I'm sure my youngest cat wouldn't touch my Syrian hamster but I would never risk it just in case. Cats have lethal bacteria in their saliva which can kill a small animal within the day if it enters their blood stream. And that's not even considering the fact that prey animals like rats and hamsters do have defences like sharp teeth that can harm the cat if they get spooked. Either way, it's not worth the risk regardless of how much you trust your animals, you can never tell as they're not able to communicate the same way humans do.
@furbycakez

@@loaf9526 I have 5 cats, at least one of them is around me unless I lock them all in a bedroom which isn't fair for the amount of companion time my rat requires being an only rat. The one that was sitting with me was smaller than the rat when he showed up (and she still had a sister then so didn't need to spend as much time with humans) so to give them any out of cage they had to be around him since he was literally always with me. He learned very quickly he isn't to attack them and has never tried in 6 months. I don't let them cuddle or anything but I'm not worried about him giving her a sniff if she approaches him because I know he doesn't see her as pray or a playmate. You can't always keep all animals seperate when you have limited space (especially with a cat in isolation ATM which eliminates the spare bedroom as a place I can hang out with a rat since that cat poses the biggest danger to the rat and my partner sleeps for work while I have her out so I can't go in there either). Most people with multiple species households have to know their household dynamics to make it work and are doing the best we can. I am not publicly going to explain why I have so many animals but the circumstances I got each one in means rehoming is and has not been an option so I'm doing the best I can with what's available to me.

@@furbycakez and its fair for your cats?? Cats and rats do not go together your asking for heartbreak in the future. 5 cats is already alot. And your cats need just as much stimulation as your rats they need more than a cat tree and little toys. I have 5 cats 4 dogs and I wouldn't have kept an animal that I thought had even a chance of mortally wounding each other (my dogs were raised with my cats and get along very well ) if anything never leave them alone together because that rat will be hunted. . As harsh as that sounds that's the reality of animals my dude

@@furbycakez You have 5 cats and a rat?! And constantly lock the cats up??? Wtf is wrong with you? That’s bad pet owning 101. Don’t get more than you can handle. Plus cats need more attention than most think, about as much as your rat, and they need a decent amount of space to roam. Idc why you have so many, the reason cannot excuse this reckless and thoughtless behavior! I hope to god I read something wrong..there should be NO REASON you cannot rehome some of your animals if you know you aren’t treating them properly other than selfishness of “I don’t wanna get rid of my cats 🥺😢” which is a pathetic excuse.

My friend has an impulsively got a bird, because I got a sun conure, Cosmo. The thing that makes me mad is that you have to do research before buying a pet. I’ve worked hard and paid for Cosmo and I’m proving to my parents that I’m taking good care of him. Then, my friend does no research, and gets a green budgie named Teddy. Although budgies are small, in my opinion they aren’t really a “beginner bird”. Because of their size, budgies are a lot more skittish and get scared easily. My friend only bought what the store recommended to her, which is already a red flag. The cage is really small, (it’s a table top), has a mirror, has plastic and dowel perches, and uses plastic bowls. Not to mention it’s on an all seed diet AND she NEVER lets it out of the cage. I’ve tried and tried to convince my friend that Teddy isn’t being took care of properly and told her what she needs to do, but she refused and claimed that I don’t know anything about birds. I don’t know EVERYTHING, but I know enough that my bird is on a healthy diet, has a big enough cage, is harness trained and only stays inside its cage when I’m in school. This makes me really mad and I’ve gone as far as telling my friend’s parents that they aren’t taking good care of this poor budgie, but all they’ve said is, “oh, the PetSmart said this fine. If their budgies are living that way, so can Teddy.” It makes me disappointed to see people treat pets like this.. smh

@@iliket0phatz738 great-ish news! my friend FINALLY realized she wasn’t taking care of Teddy right. She also realized that she couldn’t take care of him, so she gave him off to me as long as I promised her that could visit him. My cage for Cosmo was accidentally large because my mom accidentally ordered a different cage from what I listed back then, and Cosmo and Teddy get along pretty well, so they are sharing. I just added more toys and stainless steel bowls for Teddy. He’s a lot more social and acts like Cosmo’s younger sibling 😂 Teddy is on a proper diet and I’m just ordered an avian harness to see if he can be harness trained since he’s never been outside. But I have his old cage and I used it to take him outside for the first time. I’m so glad my friend changed!

I had a betta fish a while ago, about a year ago. His name was Kuromaru. He was the only old and sick one at the pet shop, so I got him just to let his last few days be nice and peaceful. He was such a sweet boy and lasted a week longer than I thought he would. I constantly changed his water and cleaned the large container I had put him in (the largest container I had at the time.) and fed him bloodworms which he preferred over betta fish flakes.

I'm thankful my parents taught me to never impulse buy any kind of animal without doing my research because it would be more expensive to take care of a sick animal than making sure they're healthy and following care instructions. Just like when I had my two leopard geckos, I did at least 3-4 months of research and buying materials before getting them. I ended up giving them to someone else who could care for them because I found that I was neglecting them on accident due to mental health problems so I thought the more responsible thing was to give them and their stuff to someone who had more experience than me. They're much healthier now and I'm happy I made a good decision for the sake of their lives 💙

Honestly i did impulse buy a beta fish. 2 days after buying i noticed that he wasn't doing well so i read up about it and noticed i completely messed up. The next day i went out and bought a biger tank, plants, hiding places, filter, lamp and a bunch more stuff to give him the perfect home. And yes it costed more than a hundred euro but it was completely worth it because now almost 3 years later he is still alive and happy.

Maybe instead of getting matching fish and fish tanks, you should get matching toy fish? You could each get a little LPS fish and then set up a habitat for both of your toy fish and make the habitats match. Then it’ll last forever and it’ll be a fun little toy to play with:

Sometimes ducks, chickens, and other animals need assistance in getting out of the eggs if something goes wrong, but you usually should not interfere until you know they need help. It can take a long time for a chick to fully hatch and you should not rush the process, but if you can tell something is wrong you should help it open up but only as a last resort.
