I bought the reboot dolls in 2019 for Christmas and still have them. I agree with the faces, they’re a little too realistic in a creepy way, but I still think their outfits are cute. I also recently started collecting the old deluxe dolls, I have the Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy ones you have with the extra articulation. Love these! The outfits are unique and so cute! I only started collecting the old ones just because of the tail and wings, I miss when they had the dolls that showed the ‘full’ pony-up from the movies. It’s always great to hear you talk about ponies again! And yeah, I got into MLP around the first EQG movie release too but right around the start of season 4. Really brings a lot of nostalgia back to me! Thanks for this video Soda! 🖤

I am immensely happy that someone dedicated an entire video just to the dolls,as i have a soft spot for them. Yes,a large majority of them are low-quality and somewhat frightening,but they hold a special place in my heart. My favorites are the dolls of the Dazzlings: they are tremendously stunning and gorgeous,and i really hope that i will get them someday, since they're no longer available in my country. I also think that i actually prefer the minis to the fashion dolls, though no offense to then because they are pretty too: purely because the minis resemble the characters more, Although I'm still confused as to why they didn't generate Aria Blaze and Sonata Dusk minis, considering we have Adagio. Great video! ❤

I had the Rainbow Dash stamp doll! The stamp was actually pretty weak, I don't know if the ink in it just got dried out from shipping or what not but I loved her outfit. I feel like your equestria girl doll reviews back in the day made me want to buy more so I had quite a big collection that I had to leave behind when I moved (I'm so sad I miss them) Also Rainbow Crush mention in 2024! We love her and she's coming back in the Too Young Remake, she will never stop being the villain I fear. Absolutely love this video btw! As someone else who adores this doll line it's so nice seeing someone do a deep dive on them, they need more love in the doll community :(

@@Starribruins Oh yeah they did, I had 2 Twilight figures, one Rainbow Rocks one and one normal one. The normal one's head broke off (the neck peg broke off in her head-hole). And the Rainbow Rocks one's leg snapped off.

I live in Europe and I can confirm that Equestria Girls dolls were much more readily available here than in the US. To this day, smaller toy stores near me have some dolls from Friendship Games, Everfree and Reboot lines. I even found an completly new set of Twilight and Sunset from the first movie (which is very surprising to me considering these dolls are probably 10+ years old) and your video convinced me to buy them haha Also I'm pretty sure that the Sonata and Aria set was released in limited quantity, because I saw it several times on ebay and once I found an Aria doll on aliexpress. Very nice video by the way. Equestria Girls was a big part of my childhood. You are one of the few people who covered the topic of these dolls and I really appreciate that ❤️

personally I think they should've gone with the EG minis style right from the beginning. Unfortunately this series was released at the time I began not really collecting anything MLP. But the EG minis worked so much better with props and were somewhat time the pony toys in a way with the playsets and accessories

Ahh..these were part my childhood! I definitely remember having the first wave of these dolls especially the fluttershy and rainbow dash fashion packs and sunset/Twilight pack. Truly iconic (plus saw the sonata/aria 2 pack were cute)

I still have the original Sunset and Twilight set, and let me tell you, their hair is still SO SOFT!! Fun fact: twirly lived as an amputee for about 7/8 years until November ‘23. Her leg came off (yes, whole leg, off at the hip joint) and i couldn’t get it back on for that long. Lil bro is finally big & strong enough to have healed her for me! I still have my entire MLP collection as a 21 year old. What a BEAUTIFUL, ENVIOUS collection Hazel! So jealous of your dazzlings. will always love your videos as an OG fan!

I had no idea that the motocross/archery deluxe sport dolls were hard to find, lol. We got them at my local Toys R' Us and my sister and I split each "set" between us for Christmas: I got Twilight, Indigo Zap, Sunset, and AJ; she got Rainbow, Fluttershy, Sugarcoat, and Sour Sweet. But I never once saw any of the roller skating ones until I visited a Ross: Dress for Less in Hawaii during a vacation with my extended family in December 2017. I swear to god, the entire US stock of those dolls ended up there because they had an ENTIRE wall FILLED with just Rarity, Pinkie, Lemon Zest, and Sunny Flare. I had more or less graduated from my MLP phase into my FNaF phase at that point, but I got all four simply so I could complete the set, lol. Still have 'em all to this day.

Hasbro doesnt really care much about the translation from the movies and shows to the toys and dolls Like, they didn't really care if the charcters were acurrate, you can see sometimes they change the color of their eyes or just straight up give the pony ear thing to human charcters who don't even have powers in the movie Therefore, Im gessing they also didn't care abt marketing Sunset Shimmer even if she was the protagonist, mane six were already the face of their brand so they just went with it

They were also releasing books for Equestria Girls and the books is where it got confusing. The first line of Rainbow Rocks dolls were used in the second book of the EQ book series called Equestria Girls Rainbow Rocks but the thing about the book was that it was not a novelization of the movie. Instead the book focused on this fair that happened in between the first and second movie. Honestly, they should have given the book a different name because book three in the Equestria Girls series was the novelization of the film Equestria Girls Rainbow Rocks but it was titled The Mane Event. The whole marketing is very confusing.

I first got into MLP in summer 2017 when I was 20, and shortly discovered Equestria Girls after that. However, for me personally, the actual full-size EG dolls were NOT show-accurate for me to collect, as well as just having really soulless facial expressions! That being said, in October 2017 I started watching videos by ponytubers such as MLP Fever, Majestic Melon, and also Yum Soda! I remember seeing you reviewing the EG Minis, and as these were much smaller than the main line EG dolls as well as being way more show-accurate, I bought my first ever EG Mini (Pep Rally Rarity) in late 2017. Nearly seven years later, I have 23 EG Mini dolls, 8 EG Fashion Squad dolls, DJ PON+3’s car and the ponies which would’ve originated come with Twilight, Celestia and Octavia. Living in England, toy shops over here have never been very good for keeping up with new MLP toys releases, but one of my local toy shops has just recently brought in the new wave of EG Fashion Squad, which is a huge blast from the past, and especially very strange to see inamongst mostly G5 MLP toys! I still regularly rewatch your old toy reviews/MLP videos just for the nostalgia!

hey i have the applejack stamp doll! the stamping actually doesnt work at all because the bottom of the shoe has nothing for the ink to soak into, its just plastic so it sits on it in little droplets. unless im doing it wrong. super cute idea, awful execution 😭 also you are so beautiful

I have the Photo Finish set with the other two characters, and the funny thing is (and I have no idea if the kind I got was just a manufacturer error or if all of them were like this) but upon removing Photo Finish’s glasses, her eyes are smudged and her eyes and cheek have Twilight’s cutie mark! I don’t know if mine is special or when they made her they didn’t bother coming up with her cutie mark to put on her face but it cracks me up. (Perhaps Photo Finish is really Twilight though! Is it too late for a fan conspiracy theory?! Heh heh just kidding.) It’s nice to finally see EG commentary content not hating on them as much. I always loved the dolls too!
