Yes, magnificent performances, and the Campanella is undeniably thrilling. Of course, classicalalways is right (though (s)he puts it rather crudely): to say that this is "by far the best recording of this piece" is meaningless. What is the "best" recording/performance of a piece? The fastest, the most accurate (to nit-pick, the repeated notes at 40:37 are smudged)? Neither, of course. What, then? The one that most perfectly realises the composer's intentions? Sure, but how do we know what those were in Liszt's (or Chopin's or Mozart's ... ) case? See what I mean? Anyway, thanks for posting. Yundi, or whatever he wants to call himself this year, is growing on me.

While wonderful to have, saying the encore is "by far the best recording of this piece" is quite ignorant." You may think it is the best, but it certainly is not "by far" the best. Whether it is the Gavrilov video or even the most legendary unedited performance by Josef Hofmann or one of several other excellent performances, there is no best performance "by far" unless you have not heard many. Just trying to keep things honest here.....
