Yung Leans newer music really does speak to a deeper sense of pain. He lost a good friend too. And all of his music after that happened [and after developing mental health and drug abuse problems] has never quite been the same. Which isn't a bad thing, it's just you can see the whole "sad boys" thing stopped being a joke. Alot of Lean's music reminds me of a loved one who was addicted to heroin and who was severely suicidal who I will never see again. Blue Plastic is one of those songs, it really triggers my grief sometimes. It's probably just projecting, but knowing Lean's art comes from a place of loss and healing makes me really, strongly identify with it.
