I find it pretty interesting that the Muppets’ final cinematic adventure is their only actual sequel. Each previous Muppet film is set in its own individual continuity, especially since the first three films are about them meeting each other for the first time.

Fun fact: in 2019, there was supposed to be another Muppet continuation as a 6-part mini series on Disney+ titled "Muppets Live Another Day" with Once Upon A Time creators Adam Horowitz and Eddie Kitsis at the helm with Josh Gad. It was supposed to be set to be a 80s-set sequel to Muppets Take Manhattan, where Rowlf the Dog mysteriously disappears as the Muppets reunite again to find him. (One leaked script page had Rowlf having a conversation with Steve Martin.) According to Gad, having it be set in the 80s was to subvert and comment on our current love for all things nostalgia while also allowing characters to tell a story that would lead to an end in the present day. And revealing secrets along the way. Unfortunately, it wasn't made due to the three having creative differences with Disney and the new heads of the Jim Henson Company were switching and the new executive didn't want it. (Of course they didn't 😢) And the result was The Muppets Now.
@YujiUedaFan9 ай бұрын
Muppets Now was so weird. It only ran for 6 episodes, which is far shorter than other Henson productions.

Muppets Now is not a Henson joint, and Live Another Day wouldn't have been one either. The Muppets' Wizard of Oz was the final Muppets project to involve the Jim Henson Company. All future projects are strictly under Disney.

Personally, Muppets in Ernest died over 30 years ago with the death of Jim Henson himself. As much as I've enjoyed some of the post-henson stuff, I just feel like the Magix is gone. I saw this movie for the first time today and I was surprised at how well it holds up compared to the 2011 film. I will admit that the fact that the sequel has a train might cause a bit of bias for me. It’s rather ironic that Matt Vogel’s Constantine often sounds more like Kermit than Matt’s actual Kermit voice
