@@crown926 and he talks about the lack of teams but The 24th pick of the 1st round today would be the final pick of the 3rd round in the 60's. Only the cream of the crop get to play in the NBA in the 60's. To cite an example, Russell would face off Wilt Chamberlain 8-9 times a season. When he is not fighting Wilt, he is fending off other Hall of Famers 8-9x again like Nate Thurmond, Jerry Lucas, Willis Reed etc. you get the drift. They have to work their butts off almost everytime. In contrast in the 90's, Shaq only facedoff with Ewing in the East 4x and faces-off with Hakeem and Robinson in the West 2x. Russell and Wilt dueled 142x during a ten year period. Compared that to Bird and Magic who for close to eleven years, only dueled 37x. The top players in the 60's face an opponent worthy of his abilities MORE OFTEN.

@@casualfandestroyer2503 Right, which eliminates the team number talking point. Bill's raw athleticism is one in millions and he'd be a freak physically and defensively in any given era. Dude was legitimately over 7 feet with a 45+ or higher vert, he was leaping over defenders. He was a superstar and paid rightfully so. He created interior defense and when it was the thing, he'd still dominate at it against the other centers like you said. His game limited Wilt at times and he played better elite defense than Wilt. His vertical rim protection d was a masterpiece. On that end, man was David Robinson on even more steroids (figuratively). Openly cising Wilt then downplaying Bill's game in the process is CRINGE. Bill is the best defensive GOAT and dare I say, had a higher impactful peak than Wilt. And this was bc of Bill's perfectly team fit style of defense.

@@casualfandestroyer2503 Bruh the 24th pick in today’s game would be a Hall of Fame level player in the 60s. The Celtics also had the most stacked team in NBA history and Bill Russell is arguably the worst offensive Center in NBA history. It’s bad for a Center to be shooting 52% from the field, but Russell is a Center going against worse defences and shooting 44% from the field, like that is horrible. Draymond is a better offensive player than Russell, defensive wise they are probably around the same, playmaking Green takes that easily. You say he had to verse 8-9 hall of famers? The 1962 Celtics had 9 Hall of famers on their team including Bill Russell.

I’d honestly put Hakeem over Shaq. I know you said in the power forwards video that Dirk’s 2011 run is in your opinion the most impressive but Hakeem’s 1994 and 1995 runs are honestly two of the top 10 ever. In ‘94 he had no players on his team who were all stars and still got them to the finals. He also won MVP, DPOY and FMVP in the same year, the only player to ever do that. He humiliated all the centers of his era. Then in ‘95 he dragged a sixth seed team to the championship. Those are arguably the two biggest carry jobs of all time and two of the most difficult rings of all time. 3 of Shaq’s rings came with Kobe and the great Lakers supporting cast. Hakeem made that team champions by himself.

If you look at the stats Hakeem beats Shaq in every statistical category except Points per game. Hakeem has more Rebounds, Blocks, Steals, Assists than Shaq. Hakeem was a better free-throw shooter Hakeem was a better defender. Hakeem had a better arsenal of Offensive moves Hakeem had a mid range shot and could move like a guard. Also Hakeem faced a larger collection of Superstar centers in his prime than Shaq had to face. Shaq only caught the tail end (about 4 years)of some of greatest centers ever before they retired. By 2000s you can't even name a superstar center in the league during Shaqs dominance. Only until Yao Ming came got into the league was there competition at center. Also Jordan views Olajuwon as better and Shaq own teammates viewed Olajuwon as better than Shaq. Robert Horry who played with Duncan, Shaq and Olajuwon said Olajuwon was the best out of the 3 hall of famers. Gary Payton who played against both and played with Shaq stated thatOlajuwon was better. Payton said "Shaq would move Olajuwon with his strength and power but Olajuwon would laugh and say good one, then proceed to drop 30 or 40 points on Shaq anytime he wanted to." This article came out a year ago. Even Shaq says Olajuwon was better than him and he even said it again this past allstar game.

Excellent list. Not much to quibble with. Being older than dirt and having watched Chamberlain at his peak he has to rank above everyone with the exception of Jabbar. That great team in Philly in 66-67 with HOFers Greer, Walker, Cunningham, and others like Luke Jackson and Wali Jones was arguably one of the best of all time. Until then, Wilt’s supporting cast was no match for Russell’s. He should not be penalized because his early teams were not very talented. Also bring old, I might go with Nate Thurmond at number 10.

What impresses me about Olajuwon is that during his 94-95 Playoffs he had the least amount of help. Look how much help had other great centers. Almost half of Russel's Celtics were hall of famers. Wilt had Hall Greer and Jerry West. Kareem won with Oscar Robertson and later with Magic and Worthy. Shaq had Kobe and D. Wade. Olajuwon had no other all-Star beside him during his championship runs. In 95 both Olajuwon and Drexler were on all-NBA 3rd team. Olajuwon on his way to a championship beat other great centers of that era, proving that he was the best.

@@Nootasaur Those guys in Boston no named Bob Cousy and John Havlicek weren’t HOF talent Bill made them. Let me put it that way The Celtics organization was created in 1946 but started winning right when Russel came in 1957 and almost keep winning almost every year until his retirement (1969). After that they waited like 5 years (1975) to winning again. People like you don’t grasp Bill Russel defensive impact…

@@yvans. you clearly don’t know shit if you’re saying they weren’t HOF talent 💀 no compared to today’s league they are not HOF talent but back then, nearly all of them would be on that generational tier of players. Those Celtics teams were stacked and you can’t deny that, the most stacked teams in NBA history to be exact relevant to their era ofc. To say what you just said is like saying the KD led Warriors team is not a superteam.

Moses>Drob. Moses was a three time MVP and the best often I’ve rebounder of all time. He was also the best player on a championship team that had DR J on it. DRob was a one time mvp and only really contributed as the second best player on a championship team once. Moses was the best blazers on two finals teams and won one of them. Moses is the most underrated player in NBA History. Moses is also the last Center in NBA History to average 30 shaq drob and Embiid (Embiid was on pace this season before the injury) but none have actually done it since

'Zo was awesome, but he was a bit undersized for a Center, I think he was 6'9"? He had a really good career, where Joker is just beginning. I would bet money Joker will end up with the better career, but I can agree it might be early to put Joker on a list where if he had a freak injury tomorrow and his career ended, he didn't quite do enough to be ranked among the greats yet.

@Todd Lerfahndler Alonzo Mourning- Top 2 in the MVP vote ( 1999 ). Alonzo Mourning- Top 3 in the MVP vote ( 2000 ). Alonzo Mourning was an MVP caliber player and faced very fierce competition. *vs Tim Duncan, Shaquille O"Neal, Kevin Garnett, Allen Iverson, Karl Malone, Jason Kidd, Chris Webber and Gary Payton.* Alonzo Mourning- 2x DPOY, 2x Nba Blocks Leader. Nikola Jokic has only two seasons in which he averaged over 20-Points per game. It"s too early to put him in the Top 10.
