This wasn't my best skate session, I've definitely had better days before. Also the wide angle from the camera makes the obstacles look really small but in reality they're HUGE! I just wish I had friends in general 💀 but on a serious note, having friends to skate with really does impact your skating experience. They keep you motivated and you have a blast. Don’t be afraid to go out and talk to people that are skating near by you guys, they could be a perfect friend for you and you just don’t know it yet :)

I’m extremely self conscious when skating, even if no one’s around (since I’m a beginner and push awkwardly). But I hung out with my friend who somehow got me to skate more lively areas and it’s really weird how that works! We’re gonna spend go skate day together this year

We talked about what we loved about skating, different falls we had, girls lol, etc, it was nice. I learned there are other skaters out there who just wanna cruise around maybe grind some fun tricks together and chill, just gotta get out there and find them sometimes. Keep skating, keep grinding, eventually you'll bump into another board just dont be afraid to say hello :))

I feel this. I started skating when i was 11 years old and everyone in my group of friends skated so we always had people and friends hanging at the local park to skate with. Skateboarding gave me so much more joy than anything else during my teen years but as time went by everyone lost interest, started doing other things and eventually quit skateboarding. Can't blame them thus I at age 19 did the same and my board started to rot in the garage it is still at this date. I am 26 now. Skating with good friends hits so different.

Thing is, a lot of our generation got stuck in the same boat. I just recently made a couple new friends by 1. walking up to the random skater and getting their instagram first 2. the next day dm them "where are you skating today", or something similar 3. use the next skate session to try and talk with them more, buy drinks or eat together. It's hit/miss if you find someone that likes everything you like, but if they do then you can even hang out outside of skateboarding. I also try to make sure I'm outside as much as possible, or maybe messaging people often. I used to wonder why things weren't going my way with dating till i realized i read manga 5 hours a day and played games for the remaining hours. A lot of men and women are dying for interaction, especially after 30 cause most of their friends are either set into a career, married, or troubled.

I skated with a group of friends for a couple of years and I loved it the thing was they were all older than me by a couple of years and eventually graduated high school and went to collage. No one around my age skates in my area so I would skate with friends over the summer but that was it and we never really pushed each other, around a month ago or a little before school started for me me and a group of friends have started skating almost every day and we push off each other and feed of that energy, it really made skating more fun for me and I noticed I immediately started learning tricks I never would have thought I could do. Skating with a group of people can really be a game changer, I almost quit a couple of times but now I'm glad I stuck through it. I hope you can find some people that can skate and hang out with soon. Also the I got a T-Shirt Folder 9000 in the same colorway and It works like magic 10/10 would recommend.

As an older guy, I feel this. All in all for me, skating is my exercise, my challenge to learn something new, hone my skills and overcome my fears. But it would be nice to have a friend or two at the park. Mainly it's brief interaction with the other adult skaters and keeping my head on the swivel for grommits but I'm still there doing my own thing. I surfskate, so I'm the only one there doing what I do so that's isolating a little as well. On the other hand I'm a bit of an attraction looking like I'm surfing my way around the park. I feel cool for once in my life and that's something that brings a smile to my face. I'm not the most skilled rider, I'll get there in time. I'm content with my own progression, but it would be nice to have some company along the way

ngl i only have like a few skate buddies.. by few i mean like, one friend that goes with me usually cause we're near each other. the others are just 2 or 3. other than that i just know people that skate (know as in people ive talked to but not considered as friends.. not parasocial relationships) im lucky to have friends and that im able to socialize, its a rlly nice ability/skill(?) ive never noticed until highschool tho sometimes i wish i was able to actively talk to people rather than people approach me and me continuing the conversation. most of the people i talk to are people that approached me or my skate bud approaching them and i continue the conversation together anyway besides that, sometimes i wish i had a nice group of skate buddies. i always thought it was ungrateful to wish for these things cause these type of wishes require *you*. but i saw this video and i guess i shouldnt beat myself up for little things. but on social media, which i guess is meant to drain you from the actual nice things in life and makes u wish for more, i always see groups of skate friends hanging out and doing stupid shit like using a fire extinguisher to push urself while skating (ykwim) and stuff like that is seems so fun to do with friends. again i never noticed myself having the ability to actually socialize until highschool so i always thought that i was a "lone wolf" and i was an edgy introvert.. spoiler, im not and im happy that im not cause if i continued with that mindset, id be hella lonely and being alone isnt my type of thing. i think this is just a rant but js somethin ive been thinking of for a bit.

I'm 29 and have never skated in my life... Several months ago, well, Autumn, a mate gave me an old board... I tried it out, fell on my ass a few times too lol then I showed one of my other friends and he pointed out how unsafe the board was... basically rusty, needed new wheels, trucks, etc and the grip tape had no grip! I researched different boards, trucks, wheels, etc as well as gear, and couldn't make up my mind on a board. Then I found a brand new complete at a loan shop... by Almost. It was a steal! Haven't heard much about the brand but for the price, and as a starter board, I thought I couldn't go wrong! Yet the weather got worse as it segwayed into Winter so I didn't end up using it. I've just ordered a pair of Vans as I don't have many sneakers (one pair for exercise and a pair of chucks that I don't want getting shredded). And I've decided to forgo pads and a helmet for the moment as I'm only learning the basics. I haven't as much enthusiasm as I had when I bought the board, and while I'm thin, I'm definitely not fit. I'm a bit of a scaredy cat too... so I've got to motivate myself as it's Spring now, and the weather will be getting better. And while I'm confident with talking to strangers in public or at parties, I'm shy when it comes to trying something new and having people watch me... I do have a friend who skates and a while ago he let me try out his board (months ago when I showed him that old one) but he wanted me to do things I wasn't yet confident doing yet, like skating down an incline when I haven't even mastered tic tacking let alone turning smoothly. So I don't really want to skate with him. I haven't anyone else to skate with and being shy I don'twant people to see me yet... so I'm going to go in the evenings to a local school or the reservoir as there aren't any skate parks nearby. I'm hoping that I'll get my enthusiasm back as I learn and accomplish challenges but it will be a lonely pursuit... to start with anyways... eventually I may make friends at a skate park, who knows! But for now I'd be too embarassed and worried I'd get in people's way to even attempt skating at a park. Just waiting for my shoes to arrive and the weather to clear up and then I'm off! No more excuses like "I don't have the right shoes" or "my board is old and manky" lol I just need to do it... motivation comes after action! I feel for you though; it would be really nice if I had a friend who was starting out too so we could both goof off and learn together... oh, that reminds me! My skating style is goofy... obviously I've had f*** experience but I've tried both ways and it just feels better... I feel more unbalanced if I try with the other foot. If anone has any tips, I'd be really grateful! Until then, I'll just keep watching skate videos!
